Would appeciate it if you'd put "Spoiler Alert" in the title, and celebrate in the message please. I had tivo'd the race as I couldn't see it until this afternoon. Now it won't be a surprise who wins... _________________ Owner, www.hamiltonhelmets.com // UAS Racer #76 // Karting for karting's sake...keep it fun! |

save yourself a few hours, ( unless you like to sleep infront of the TV) ..
...this race is a real bore.
I have made a mental note not to bother watching any more of these "Desert" race track events. ...those tracks are DULL !
Even the teams thought it was boring...

Chad: So what Martin was saying was that the B'stones were TOO GOOD ? and 2 pitstops Mandatory should be required?
I was a little surprised at the amount of time difference between all teams .
Also recall Varsha and Hobbs referring to the DUSTINESS of the track contributing to lots of internal engine problems . _________________ Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting, "Holy **** what a ride!!!". |

Yes Bob,
he seems to be suggesting a much softer option tire ( and a less hard wearing "prime" tire) to both offer more strategy possibilities and force more pit stops. That and further changes to the rear diffuser design to reduce aero effects.
I still say they have to get rid of the wings completely.
And how did Ferrari get a free pass with those engine changes between qualifying and the race ? ..without a grid penalty _________________ Chad

| Well....they are Ferrari afterall. Wow did they look reallly slow on the start. Slow being a relative term to how they looked a year ago. The kid from India in the new car reminded me too much of some of my karting fiascos. Spend a ton of money, wrench your brains out to go just fast enough to be last and wreck. I would hope they could do better at that level. |

It really was. Schumacher's comment about the heavy fuel loads and how it makes passing basically impossible bodes badly for the rest of the season. They really seem to have gone the wrong way. _________________ A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. -- Winston Churchill. |

That's not new. They get 8(?) engines per car for the season. You install #9, get a penalty. They can even re-install #1 if they want to. _________________ It's just kart racing.

Looks like will get PONC races (Parade Of Noisy Cars) in which tire and engine conservation will be the overriding strategy factor and drivers will be told NOT to overtake for fear of wearing out either. |

I thought the rule states that an engine can be changed..." if there is an engine failure" ... not whenever they feel like it !
If not, we will see the return of "special" qualifying engines ! .. or is that what Ferrari did !? _________________ Chad

Can they repair/rebuild damaged motors ?
.. i assume not ?
Can red Bull replace the dud spark plug in Vettel's motor ?
.... I assume yes ? ( or do they have to swap the motor ?)
If Ferrari "think" those motors were likely to overheat, ..can they check internally for blockages , dud temp sensors etc??
What if a drive belt brakes, or a oil leak starts from a cam cover....can they dismantle to fix it ??
Boy, i hope someone has a good handle on where the line is drawn ! _________________ Chad

| Quote: | 28.4 a) Each driver may use no more than eight engines during a Championship season. Should a driver use more than eight engines he will drop ten places on the starting grid at the first Event during which each additional engine is used. If two such additional engines are used during a single Event the driver concerned will drop ten places on the starting grid at that Event and at the following Event.
An engine will be deemed to have been used once the car's timing transponder has shown that it has left the pit lane. |
| Quote: | c) After consultation with the relevant engine supplier the FIA will attach seals to each engine prior to it being used for the first time at an Event in order to ensure that no significant moving parts can be rebuilt or replaced.
Within two hours of the end of the post race parc ferme exhaust blanking plates (with one 10mm diameter inspection hole per cylinder) and further seals will be applied to all used engines in order to ensure that these engines cannot be run between Events. Upon request to the FIA these additional seals will be removed after the start of initial scrutineering at the next Event at which the engines are
required. All such engines must remain within the team's designated garage area when not fitted to a car and may not be started at any time during an Event other than when fitted to a car eligible to participate in the Event. |
