|
The following are guidelines to follow when using this section:
* PLEASE USE ONE AD ONLY FOR ALL ITEMS YOU ARE SELLING.
If you have several items, please list them in one ad instead of several. People do read your entire ad, if you use a clear title, and, this reduces the number of ads per day to keep ads from disappearing off the first page longer.
* DO NOT REPOST ADS FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS
Reposted ads will be deleted. Our Classifieds are very active already. If member repost their ads every day or 2, then we will have a huge mess with people competing to be on the front page. Buyers and Browsers know that our classifieds are very active. People search many pages back all of the time. People do see your ad when it moves off the front page.
* EKN CLASSIFIEDS ARE NOT AN EBAY OUTLET
This is being monitored. The occasional item also being offered on eBay is fine, it helps with pictures.
* PRIVATE PARTY ADS ONLY
The EKN Classifieds section is for EKN members who are selling their personal items. Kart shops are not allowed to post classifieds in this section. Forum members that have karting businesses, may not advertise used, team equipment that is being sold or any personal equipment as well. General merchandise ads, sales ads, and promotions are also not allowed. Consignment inventory is not allowed as this is part of the business. Businesses are expected to be honest in this regard. If you have any questions, please email news@ekartingnews.com
* Press Releases, Product News, that sort of thing can be emailed to news@ekartingnews.com
* Advertising queries may be submitted to sales@ekartingnews.com
* SELLERS BEWARE
Several members have experienced receiving emails from hopeful buyers outside of the US offering sums of money and payment arrangements that are probably fraudulent. In one variation the emails say they are coming from buyers, usually in African nations, and often offering much more than the asking price for what is being sold, in exchange for buying the goods and returning the excess money. Another variation is that the offer is for full price, and then describing the desire to arrange shipping and payment. Be very cautious about any of these offers, and, make sure that you are receiving legal, real, payment, completely verified by your bank prior to completing any deal.
* BUYERS BEWARE
As with any transaction, be it your local classified ads, eBay, or any other deal that you make, ensure that you know what you are buying, and, that the terms are clear, and when possible, physically inspect what you are buying. As the EKN Classifieds are used by members, there has been an extremely low incidence of any problems. Do not take this as an alarm of any kind. Just a reminder.
* PHISHING AND EMAIL/INTERNET SCAMS
As mentioned in "Sellers Beware" there are ongoing problems with email and internet scams. Also there are "Phishing" attempts that are occurring. Do not respond or click on links in emails from Paypal, Banks, Stock Brokers, etc. These are attempts to steal your personal financial information. Refer to internet security sites for more information. Search on "Phishing"
* POSTING AN IMAGE
Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. Therefore you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed).
phpBB BBCode incorporates a tag for including images in your posts. Two very important things to remember when using this tag are; many users do not appreciate lots of images being shown in posts and secondly the image you display must already be available on the internet (it cannot exist only on your computer for example, unless you run a webserver!). There is currently no way of storing images locally with phpBB (all these issues are expected to be addressed in the next release of phpBB). To display an image you must surround the URL pointing to the image with [img][/img] tags. For example:
