We are looking into PA system options for our September Michigan Kart Club event at MIS ( michkartclub.com ). I have been to other tracks who have broadcast over AM radio this seems like a nice option since it's hard to broadcast to the masses over a loud speaker with all the load noises associated with racing.

Does anyone have any experience with this or knowledge of where I might learn about this?

Thanks,
Dan

Easier and probably cheaper to broadcast over a local FM transmitter. The good folks at Ocala Gran Prix do it.

We broadcast over low power FM to the pit area -- range is about 2 city blocks. Challenge in our market is finding a frequency that won't be trounced by more powerful radio transmitters. Haven't heard of anyone doing in with AM, sorry.

Don't piss off the FCC whatever you do!

Frankie,
I can't seem to get the youtube video to play but I can only imagine what you sent me. Maybe some 70's karaoke? Maybe you could come be our designated MC ?

I only suggested AM because I thought it was AM that people used for these type of situations. We're open to any and all possible solutions.

Roger, can you fill me in on what you use?
What I envision is a low powered, short range transmitter that will allow us to broadcast to people in the pits and around the track. A range of only a 1/4 mile or so may be just right.
