OK,I would really really like to see a picture of this. I got a small 4 door Toyota Yaris, and was thinking about getting a trailer. But if I can fit it in the back of the car hell I'll go with that...........can you tell I'm cheap |
I have to move the passengers seat all the way up and move the seat back all the way up also. The big toolbox goes between the passengers seat and the rear seat on the floor while my 2nd smaller toolbox goes on the floor in front of the passengers seat. Kart tires and wheels go behind my seat. Kart's nose is all the way against the passengers seat with the back fitting snugly against the rear of the car. Stand slides down on top of the seat so that its almost touch the rear ceiling. I had an extra set of wheels/tires which I normally don't have when I packed in this picture which made me drive a bit more carefully - didn't want to take a YHC to the head. |
Wow that is a tight fit, thank you for the picture. How long does it take you to put it together at the the track? Is the engine attached to the chassis?
Thanks again

I just bought a International Prostar and I'm trying to figure out a way to either hang it on the back wall or mount it across the frame in front of the swing of the trailer. Since the freight I carry is usually sealed in the trailer, I can't use the trailer to carry the kart, but I want to be able to haul it around the country so I can race on the weekends even when I'm out on the road. Haven't figured it out at all. _________________ Kane McConnell

I leave the engine mounted, the only things I take off are:
- Bodywork
- Wheels
- Hubs
All in all it takes about 30-45 minutes if I take my time. If I'm really rushing I'm sure I could get it done in about 20. _________________ #09 TAG Lite |

I originally used the roof rack on my STI (2006), but that was a pain so I picked up an 8 foot trailer for two years:
Then extended that with 2x4's out another 3' so I could trailer two when the kid started driving. Now that my girlfriend has picked up a kart, we needed room for three so just picked up a 6x12 enclosed to get them and all the gear around.
Just got it home yesterday, so going back through old threads now looking for the best way to set her up! |

Any new entries? I thought I bring this topic back as I'm still not sure what I'm going to do when I get my Kart, I currently drive a 4 door toyota yaris, and I think those seats don't fold. The track is just a 15 minute drive, so I was thinking truck, just not sure. Any way I'm probably going with a CRG Kali so it may be too big for the trunk. No idea.
Thanks

some tracks have storage facilities to keep your kart and equipment in. it might be something to get you through until you get something bigger. _________________ Blaise Haynes

Take one utillity trailer, add beer and you get.........
I tow with a GTI and get 23+ MPG with one kart.. trailer will fit 2 in a pinch. I can't take credit for the build, a guy from KY built it. _________________ Jason Vehige

Jason,
I used to pit next to Eric Bradford who made that trailer.
It is the most organized trailer I ever saw. It had everything in it and was so neat. He had more stuff in there than I did in a 20ft trailer. He often had 2 karts loaded in that trailer.
I think this is the way to go for towing with a small vehicle.
RIP, Eric!

Heh, look'n good! Now I know there are at least two of us! Everybody kept looking at me weird for towing with it, was beginning to wonder if I was alone in this world |

| I use an 08 scion xB and the ever popular harbor freight 4 x 8 trailer. I take the pods off so it fits between the trailer wheels and the rear tires hang off the sides a bit. I also have the stand on the trailer. Tools, starter, gas, etc. go in the back of the car. I get 29 mpg at 70mph instead of 30 with no trailer. I wish I had some pictures! |
