Maybe this is a stupid question but I can't find the answer anywhere...
Can a sprint kart fit in any passenger vehicles, like a hatchback, wagon, small SUV?
Does anyone do this? If so, what vehicle?
Thanks. |

With front and rear wheels off, I had a kart in the back of my Mazda3 with the hatch closed.

I've been able to transport a full sprint kart in my Celica 7th Gen. That was without nerf bars, wheels, seat disconnected, front & rear bumpers, & exhaust. It also included lots of spares & of course a kart stand.
Edit: All bodywork except Nassau panel were off too but all still in the car. _________________ Looking to run World Formula, Yamaha Supercan, or HPV4.

'98 ford explorer. one sidepod off, nose off. no problems.
Also know it will fit in a jeep grand cherokee.
I also fit a small tool box, all gear and fuel. _________________ Contemporary Mercedes F125

Me and a buddy fit 2 karts and all the stuff it takes to race them in a Honda Element. We had to take them both apart quite a bit to fit them in but we made it work. It was pretty fun.

This is funny. I once did an article on Terry Ives and he had pictures of his VW with a kart inside. Mid 60s. He took the passanger seat and back seat out and it fit. _________________ If the data does not support the theory, get a new theory. (Al Nunley)

| awesome. So what are the dimensions of a kart (whole thing and just the chassis with bodywork and wheels off)? and are different classes chassis (yamaha, tag, shifter, etc.) different sizes? |

I have successfully transported a kart on a roof rack (Saab 9-3 & BMW 3)for a number of years. Most racks hold about 180-200 lbs as the max weight which is where a kart weighs in. My wife or a neighbor will usually help me lift it onto the roof and someone at the track will usually help me get it down. This leaves the trunk available for tools, spares, etc...
I use ratchet type tie-down straps to fasten the kart to the roof rack. With the straps cinched down, the kart does not move a millimeter. _________________ Paul Montopoli

I fit a CRG Blackstar/ Rotax in my 2004 Jetta and have a picture to prove it too.I had to take the axle out, but once I was done the trunk was closed and I was on the road.
I also managed to pack a kart stand as well. It took me about 2 hours to figure how to pack everything in. But I got it done.
I think this is by far the most economical way to travel. 1100 km (683 miles) a tank. haha. I could probably drive across the US for under $250.00

Wow, I never knew the Jetta had that much trunk space compared to a Mazda 3.
It's looking as though, most any compact car will do the trick. _________________ Looking to run World Formula, Yamaha Supercan, or HPV4. |

wow, now I'm wondering if I can actually fit one in my honda civic. the backseat folds down but the pass through is not that wide. I guess I'll have to do some measuring.
I went to a local kart race once and found everyone towing huge trailers behind huge SUVs. glad to see alternatives. |

The thing is to unbolt the exhaust from the motor. That saves a lot of room.
What kind of Civic do you have & what year? I recommend taking out the rear top part of the seats (the backrest part).
In my 7th Gen Celica, it has a rollbar but I still managed to put a kart in there with all parts scattered in the car somehow. _________________ Looking to run World Formula, Yamaha Supercan, or HPV4. |
