| The new SCCA classes for junior karters lump the 2 and 4 stroke engines together. We have seen large performance differences in our club between the two(mostly our 13-15 year olds),but we are seeing Raptors against Yamaha's. Knowing that Formula Junior was not meant to be a competitive racing class, does anyone think they will have issues? At club level I am probably still going to seperate the classes to have apples to apples comparison of driver improvements between similar karts. Otherwise I'll need to come up with a pax correction factor. |

The SEB's ultimate goal of no more than 2 FJ classes is in place, and that has left out the 5hp Briggs flatheads for National events (at least competitively speaking). All of the old configurations are still legal to run, of course. And regions are free to subdivide by engine type if they choose to. At this point, the Yamaha still appears to be the engine of choice in CenDiv, but the WF made a really good showing at the Championships in Peru last year. A restrictor for use in the WF with FJB drivers is forthcoming.

At my local and national events, my World Formula runs the same times as a non-blueprinted kt-100, which amazes me because I am 30 pounds over the 275 minimum weight. If I were to run at the minimum weight, I think that the WF would be the faster choice, at least in San Francisco region.
