| I am no expert, but you seem to be in a hurry, I use 5 ounces of Redline 2-stroke racing oil to every gallon of B-32 race gas(about 26:1 for you ratio types) and have always had good luck. DO NOT use pump gas. Thats bad, OK? I use Motul gearbox oil, but if you can not get your hands on any Motul, you can use a synthetic ATF mixed with synthetic 10W30 (1:1). Change it after your 1st race weekend, then every 2-3 races. If you are going to Alabama, you probably will not have much say so in how hot your engine runs, run it as cool as you can get it with your radiator, no tape. But I have been told to keep it under 140 degrees if possible. Don't pull off until it gets closer to 190 degrees. Good luck. |

Oil: Redline 2-stroke 6oz/gal or,
Oil: Blendzall 7oz/gal
Gearbox: I use Redline MTL and change every other race.
Water temp: 120-160F. Higher than 160F and torque drops significantly. Shoot for 140.
Have FUN! |

Scott, the first thing you need to do is get a hold of who ever built your motor and get his recommendations for all your above questions.
Here is the low down on oils, quantities, and temperatures.
1) Use a high quality synthetic pre-mix
oil like Motul at a ratio of 32 to 1
(I do not recommend you use the oil
mentioned above)
2) Transmission: use only gear oil
designed for use in a motor cycle
transmission. Ten weight is very
good. DO NOT USE ATF!!!!
3) Temperature: 135 is optimum. If you
see numbers approaching 160 degrees
you have a problem, get off the track and find out what is wrong. (you do have a temp gage on the kart don't you?)
4) Seek advise from your engine builder.
If you don't have one, get one. The
mistakes you can make can be very
costly and we don't want you leave
shifter kart racing because you kept
blowing up equipment.
Cheers, J.R. from PSR
