This is similar to the recent rain post, but I am hoping for some specific imformation. I am looking to do a small survey for help in our proposed rule change.

1. What club are you with?
2. Do you race in the rain? If yes, how is turn out? If no, did your club ever? If they did why did you change?

Thanks for the information. We are trying to keep from making our decision in a vacuum.

1. We race with NRKA (WKA rules) at BIR in Minnesota
2.Yes we do race in the rain, although we have been lucky and only had 2 rain days in the 3 years that we have been racing. There were no more incidents in the rain than there usually are in the dry.

I race with OVKA and we do not race in the rain. The reasons why were stated in the other rain racing thread and don't need to be restated here. We have 16 points races a season plus 2 other races. This season only 3 races were rained out. It's not that big a deal. Points for showing up and registering would be good though.

Since I'm planning to go to Ocala and Charlotte, I will be practicing in the rain this fall. Learning to race in the rain at a national is probably not a good thing.

I race at OVRP. Yes we race in the rain and we have open practices in the rain.

Exceptions are made if there is lightning or extremely hard rain. The Race Director will make the call for mandatory rain tires.

I thoroughly enjoy it as it requires more care with the throttle and especially under braking. Rain is also a great equalizer.

We also utilize a 3 spin rule for safety.

Racing in the rain is great and helps increase driving ability.

#1 Westwood Karting Association - Bc, Canada
#2 We race rain or shine. I would guess rain race attendance is about 90%. We where lucky this year with only going to rains a few times. Last year we got to play in the rain a lot.

Badger Kart Club - Dousman WI.

We run hard club tires and do not race in the rain.

We do issue rain points equal to a win for each person to register. Helps keep the club solvent. However, we have very few rain outs.

1. KRCup - Willow

2. So far it is the only rain race the series has had and it turned out good, for me at least. Was really fun too. I think since karting is a stepping stone for other racing in the professional ranks, it is a logical decision to race in the rain.

I race in Portland Karting Association and we do race in the rain. Turn out on rain days is usually strong at the begining of the season and weaker as the season progresses. Many of our rain days are a mixed bag of dry weather with showers so you show up prepared to race either way.

Both clubs that run @ Adams in Riverside Ca. run in the rain. (Tri-C Karters & So-Cal Sprinters) We had 3 or 4 races in the rain this year out of 19. Turn out is, of course, lower than the dry, I just did a quick calculation. In Jan and Feb (rain) So-cal averaged 104 entries. In Mar, Apr, May, the average entries were Approx 30% higher (136)

Michigan Kart Club, we will race in the rain until it starts puddling. The race director makes the call. As soon as the track gets wet we call it a rain race and rain points are given. Racers may still race for trophies.
