My Kosmic Mercury 2011 driven with an dd ica motor hops real bad at the front under cornering and also cheeses up the front tires (almost like beginners that pick up rubber). not sure what the kart does to get it hopping at the front. the frame is dead straight, T8 standard mount, scaled correctly, little neg camber, little added caster. max back width. might be massive overgip at the front? thank you for any input.

Hard to get a kart to hop the front bad. It sounds like too much front grip to me. I'd try to take a little caster out.
When you say "max width" is that front or rear? _________________ T.J. Koyen

I agree with TJ. Too much front grip or scrub radius from the wide front. _________________ High Quality American Made kart stands. Available direct to you or through one of our many dealers.

In order for anyone to help you need to know what axle is in the kart, front to rear weight percentage, and what is the distance on the seat from front frame rail and how high is it. A kosmic should not hop on baseline settings something is severly bound up.

I'm very confused as to how a kart can hop "at the front."

The only time I had my front hop was due to a kingpin nut that had worked its self loose.

I ran Kosmics for years.
Hopping is a indication of one of 2 situations
1. Usersteer. Too much grip in rear. Widen the rear track or change to a softer axle.
2. Front end too stiff/soft for loading situation. Sometimes the front bar and the amount of grip and track loading would not get along and the front end would hop in certain corners. This is especially highlighted at smooth high G loading tracks (NCMP). The cure is to change to a stiffer or softer bar.
That is what my experience with Kosmics says. _________________ NKN Technical Editor
