I have a used Energy Kinetic Corse and the brake system doesn't seem to have the right force/feel. It's an older design brake, not the one presently shown in the catalogues. I was able to take the calipers apart and hone the cylinders and install new pucks but I haven't been able to do the same to the master cylinder.
I don't know when the cylinder was taken apart before, but I can't get the plug on the end to come off in order to get inside the cylinder. It's corroded/locked . I tried impact wrench but only ground off the corners of the hex cap.

I know that I'll be able to get inside if I destroy the end cap; but, if I do damage it, "WHERE CAN I GET ANOTHER END CAP ? "

Have you tried any righetti dealers?

And I would just drill it out. Get a bit just smaller than the thread size and drill carefully.

Hey Tex;

Thanks for the tip.

I goggled rigetti ridolfi and found the master cylinder there ( they call it a pump ). It's part number 2 PN 100. The whole assembly is shown but they don't show rebuild kits. As you know, that website is Italy. who is a US dealer ?

Yes, I found the catalogue. links are BRAKES - PUMP . My pump is 2PN100. the various pumps are different colors. if you "zoom" the black one ( not the blue one - it's different for some reason ) a 12mm hydraulic fitting screws into what I call an end cap which, in turn screws into the pump's housing, you have to take out the end cap to get inside the pump in order to take out the piston etc. the end cap has a 22mm hex on it. Again, i'm talking about the end cap, not the hydraulic fitting. When I tried to remove the 22mm cap, it was in there so tight, my impact wrench rounded off the corners of the 22mm hex. As I said in my initial post, if I remove/destroy the end cap, I'll need a replacement. And, back to my earlier request, where can I get an end cap ?

That might not be a kart you can order separate. Have you tried some channel locks and a bar? And if you can get it off, can you put it back on the same way?

Bill, if that that plug doesn't have any kind of set screw to keep it, then it must have locktite on it. You going to have to heat it up to about 200 deg to break it, then put a wrench on it. Do this knowing your going waste the seals most likely with the heat, but that's kind of the point of all of this.

Get a new master cylinder - they are not expensive, and it sounds like you will beat the c*** out of the current one, just to install a rebuild kit!

I've never worked on one of those but, just because that's a hex doesn't mean it comes off. It could be machined into the block for a counter wrench against the fitting wrench. Even if it is a cap I don't think you'll get the piston out that way.

Any master cylinder I've ever seen comes out the end with the arm. Take the boot and arm off and the piston should pop out with spring pressure. Sometimes there is a small screw head in the block that holds the piston in after you remove the arm assembly.

Al has EGT, I have brakes. Before you buy any kart make sure you get a brake rebuild kit for that kart. By the time you need it they will have changed the design and your unit will be unavailable.
