Well, that will certainly answer the affordability question.

And before anybody jumps in and tells me about 'what I'm conveniently overlooking' - yes, I do realize what's included in the package for that kind of cash.

Have fun and play nice, OK?

Im going on 18 months on the same bottom end. I drive the crap out of the thing almost every weekend, havent had to touch it, not even the clutch.
I would have prob needed 3-5 bottom end rebuilds on an icc. Theirs $3000 to $5000 in savings rite there.

I'm curious what question you think this answers and what exactly are you comparing here to draw your conclusion..
Humor me. I'll go out on a limb and assume you are using this to compare costs of a KZ vs a Stock Moto...
Purchasing a Stock Moto package that includes a full warranty for a year, parts for rebuilds as needed as well as trackside tuning support from a world-class top tuner wouldn't be exactly "cheap" either. Even more so when you consider that you arent "meant" to replate a cylinder for the stock moto classes if you stick one. Many moto builders offer great support don't get me wrong, but if you think the $5-6K stock moto package from your favorite builder is the same all-encompassing package as what you linked you are fooling yourself.

In any case, is this even relevant to joe karter? How many of us are thinking of spending $15K on our motor packages this year?
People who have the big budgets will find a way to spend (Its not like $15K stock motos dont exist), thats just how it is.
Taking the extreme examples of cost, applying them as de-facto and assuming they are relevant to Joe Karter is a bad idea IMO.
You can run a KZ economically, maybe still a bit more than a stock moto, but the perception that a KZ is always, without exception going to be of order of magnitude more expensive than a moto is incorrect. It depends on the person, the tracks and series they race and the deals that are available to them. For everyone there is a different point of diminishing return. KZ works for me, I dont have a big enough budget to run more then 4-5 races a year with maybe 2 test/play days, on used tires at that. KZ's can be picked up cheap and the maintenance isn't all that big of a deal the way people make it out to be. It provides reliable, consistent performance and I'm happy with it. Did the spec\stock moto thing and given a choice I'd rather do the KZ.

The agenda pushing from the kool aid drinkers on both sides isn't helping our sport, its hindering it.

You would need this to run against the very best in the world in WSK or CIK KZ1 to try and beat Max Verstappen. Not sure how that relates to the US.

New "stock" Maxter runs about $6Kish. Most of the KZ motors are in that price range.

The link isnt a $15K motor though, its a motor along with a "service plan"......
Guarantee for 1 year
Free spare parts and free for 1 year
Free updates for 1 year
Technical assistance and spare parts free for 1 year in all the WsK and Cik race
Directly email address to answer all your requirement

SPEED KILLS! Race a stock honda and live forever!!!

I would want Fritz Leesman's engine from last Nov's Nats. That one was a keeper. And I know how much that one costs. A new KZ right out of the box is cheaper...add in some shop tuning and you are still right in there.

Educating people is key to ending this debate! Once you educate and demonstrate they all go KZ Smile

Because stock moto is cheaper remember.
The engines never break either and last forever
And you can always find parts for one at your local Honda dealer.
Man o man that kool aid must taste real good.
