I hope you mean three weekends, two races each?

Scot thanks, that makes sense.

Stan

Great idea with the open shifter class for the midwest and the Open Midwest Shifterfest at NCMP Sept. 13-15th

Just what this area needes to get shifter class back.

Hope you have a good turn out.

So a question from a new guy shopping for a kart. What is better a ICC or Stock Honda? I assume that there will be a weight penalty for the ICC motors. I weigh 205 + safety items so I am leaning toward a ICC motor, although the lower costs associated with running a stock honda do have an advantage.

Yes, Jim, you are correct.

The SKUSA Midwest ProKart Challenge will feature three double-event weekends for a total of six races.

We'll be releasing the official schedule next week and will be putting together all of the programs to promote the Open Shifter class and our plans for Midwest Shifterfest.

James best to post a new topic under the shifter board with your question so we don't break this one up. The KZ/Stock Moto debate is a hot one. The answer lies heavily on you plan running your kart and the deals available to you.
Having run both, I'll say this much: Stock isn't always cheap, KZ/ICC isn't always expensive. Ignore the extremists on both sides of the "argument" and decide what's best for you.

I look forward to it. Hopefully I can make it to at least one of your events, like anything depends on budget, and the tires. If I can run Hoosiers there's a better chance of me coming. Actually there's about 4-5 of us from MN that might come to an event if that's the case.

Your not going to have a good turn out on Sept. 13-15. The Michigan Kart Club will be racing that weekend at MIS.
I have 2 ICC karts and that's where I will be.
If it was an other date I will love to be there. Sorry.

Frank, MIS is hard to turn down.
I have tried to select dates that do not conflict but it really hard to find an open weekend.
Trouble is, there are so many races and to few weekends, regardless how you try, somebody is already racing on that date.
However, once we release details of the 2013 MWPKC series and "Shifter Fest" racers will see a great opportunity to come out to race the series and New Castle in the open class.
Taking nothing away from long tracks as that type of racing is an element of its own. (Very Cool)
But if you want to sprint race in Open Shifter, the MWPKC is the place to race in 2013. New Castle will be the Grand Finale of the Open Shifter and the Prizes will not disapoint!
"Shifter Fest" is going to rock the MidWest and beyond!

Really wish we could get past this "sprint" vs "road" mentality. It's almost an exclusively US mentality too. It's all asphalt racing and quite a few of the same drivers in many cases doing both.
When it comes to shifters in the midwest there way too few drivers and too many events.
My honest opinion, at least as far as shifters go is that SKUSA central states right now should just be a single weekend SKUSA "regional" event to start, then grow from there. Otherwise I feel its just going to keep limping along with low entries.
Good luck with the shifter fest, I think this is a step in the right direction. I won't be doing MIS will see how budget goes for this Shifter Fest thing but like I say, it also depends on tires too.
