I have a bad plug in my son's Comer 50.
The plug is NGK BPM7Y
When I go to replace it with the exact same new plug NGK BPM7Y, the diameter of the new plug is substantially smaller and subsequently too small for the head.
I don't get it, I would assume the exact same size plug model would be identical.
I pulled a plug from another Comer 50, and it is in fact of the smaller diameter as well. Not sure why the difference.
Does anyone know how I can get the larger diameter plug for the Comer 50?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, after looking at the spark plug more closely, it appears to have a sleeve indicating the spark plug hole had been stripped at some point.

Mike,

More than likely the sleeve you are talking about on the spark plus is the actual thread repair insert they used to make the repair with in the first place.

It might have just come loose from the heating of the head over time or it was never properly set in the hole in the first place.

You should be able to find a new kit at most auto parts houses and put in a new insert yourself.

This would be much cheaper than replacing the entire head.

Good luck..

Ron

The easiest thing to do, just get a plug that's the right size.
