Is it an RM-1 motor or a DD-2 motor? There are significant differences between them in certain areas that will greatly affect the price.

I have asked in the past and still can't seem to find the answer... Can someone explain the differences between a rm1 motor and a DD2....

I know there are differences regarding the wiring harness.. And a few difference in the rotating assembly again for the reverse setup...

So what would need to be changed to put it in a dd2 chassis??

Wierd, last time I said that nobody knows about them here I got slapped down, and there was an insistance that tons of folks have info. Have you gone back to those folks and sent PM's or emailed them? It's like it's a secret club and they only come out on rare occasions.

Russell.. I'm stumped I have spoken to a few rotax dealers who told me there are no major differences other than what I mentioned.. Then I spoke to another who said there were differences ... And when I asked him what they were he said "he didn't remember".. Rolling Eyes Neutral

The big differance is that the DD2 motor uses the same wiring harness as as the FR125.
The RM1 motor uses it own wiring harness and coil set up. Because of reverce.
You can not interchange the two. The crank pickup position is different on the RM1 motor.
Other than that they are the same basic motor.
