All,
What's the concensus of using Hoosier five inch tires in roadracing applications? Specifically for a CR80 on an old Motive Systems chassis.

We ran them on a CR80 and they worked great, decent performance down to the canvas. I'd advise to run the R60A rather than the softer R50. It'll be hard to free up the kart on the 50's but it'll roll like a beast out of the turns on R60A's.

R60A worked great for me on a 125.

I would not run anything but Hoosier's. Fantastic tire, great company, and made in the USA! I run the R60's and R60A's if a little more grip is needed.

I have used the Hoosier tires with great success. One thing you will find is a consistent grip for the entire run.

Good point Dominic, I totally agree.

IMO, Dunlop & Bridgestones have good initial bite but they quickly go away after a couple heat cycles or the 1/4 of the tread.

I think the secret in the Hoosiers are the designs of the side walls...

I read somewhere that they apparently use more natural rubber than any other kart tire but not sure if that is correct. If that's true, maybe this helps make them more consistent from start to finish???

Couldn't agree more! We run TaG in the road race series and switched to Hoosiers a little over a year ago. Very pleased with their wear, consistency, sizing and support. Adam and crew have been great to work with. Your local dealers will also have any information and setup information you'll need.

We have been running Hooisers for our Redline Oil / Molecule Karting Championship here in Norcal.

They have an active working replationship with Hooiser and have been testing and developing a modified R60a compound throughout this off season.

We did the final testing yesterday on the new compound, R60a grip with a stiffer side wall and longer lasting rears.

If you guys would like to give the newer compound a shot, we just gave final approval yesterday.

Cameron Karting at Sonoma Raceway will have them in stock soon.

Great information & updates on the Hoosier site. Click on Enduro, Sprint, etc on the left side for tire options & recommendations for each type of racing:

Usually designation stays the same, unless they have other plans.

Shocked
STIFFER sidewall? Though I haven't run Hoosiers, I thought their sidewalls were already comparable to a Dunlop sidewall which are already as soft as a brick. Very Happy
Taking the Dunlop comparison a little further though, I sure wouldn't mind my Dunlop rears lasting a bit longer. I have to bin the rears before the fronts of the same set are mostly gone.
