Please forgive me if this has been addressed in another thread but I'm not so good with the search engine here...
I'm doing some last minute tinkering getting ready for the ProKart Challenge season opener next week at Buttonwillow.
I've seen on EKN some references on how to clean the inside of a shifter pipe. I'm looking for some input on how to do it myself at home.
Also, how often should I clean it?
I've got an RLV R4 pipe.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Ken Schilling

Pennies... shake, shake, shake. That's the only way I've done it, but I've heard others using a wire thingy hooked-up to a drill.
Thanks for the reminder - it's been awhile since I last did it. _________________ Randy

I think rising sun motorcycles have a tool you can connect to a drill too. Basically a series of cables with balls on the end. _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

I've tried several things, but not found anything strictly "at home" that works very well. What did work, is to have it soaked over the weekend in a machine shop cleaning tank, then I heated it with a propane torch as uniformly as I could, until it stopped smoking. Then wacked it with a big rubber hammer until sheets of carbon stopped falling out!
It did make a noticeable difference in performance.

| I've heard of someone using BBQ rotisserie putting pennies inside tape the ends up and spin a couple hours. Never tried but always wanted too |

Ken I use safety wire , just twist up a few about 2 ft long and chuck them up in a drill and run it through the pipe both sides and use fwd and rev . Works good and last a long time , dt |

Thanks for the reminder - it's been awhile since I last did it. | I just did it the penny way today and it seemed to work good. I also used a ball hone in the header end as far as it would reach. I don't think my wife would appreciate me using the oven too much...
Hey Fosso, even with Robert Marks, PP Mastro and Trevor McAllister moving up to S2 in PKC, S4 is still going to be stacked: McKee, Kidd, Hromada, Ruth, etc... Woo-hoo!!! _________________ Ken Schilling
