Matter of personal opinion and on what criteria you are basing your opinion. Race car compared to street legal cars......
From the statements you are making it seems that you believe the value of anything is nothing more than the cost of materials and time. If that were the case, then every t-shirt would be 1/10 of the cost, every pair of shoes would cost $5, every painting would sell for $20, etc.
I would be willing to bet that these cars, especially the likes of the 760rs, will be worth significantly more in 30-40 years if kept in pristine condition. In this sense, the value of these cars is very good. You could even say they are worth the price.
What makes a 800 sq ft house in California that costs $500,000 not a "waste?" Personally, I think it is but thousands of others seem to be fine spending that kind of money on small homes. |
True enough. Imagine in the distant future when electric cars are mandated, some 8 year old will hear a 760RS go by at full throttle and it will change his life. He might get into cars and become a racer, grow up and become F1 world champoion.
Pagani builds cars that make me feel like that 8 year old. Can you put a price on that feeling? |

What you did was to assume I said something that I didn't (i.e., that value is related to cost of materials and time) and then defeated my by showing some examples where that hypothesis isn't true. That's called a straw argument and pretty much merits the response that you got.
What would you think if someone was selling $1.3 million tee shirts?

Exactly why I said "it seems." If it is so hard to understand what your point is, maybe you aren't making a very good point?
And if the t-shirt was made by da Vinci and I had the funds to buy said $1.3 million t-shirt, I would most definitely find it to be of value and worthy of purchase 
Maybe you ought to try and explain why the car is a waste?

From past posts I think Hollinger does believe all tee shirts should cost $5 and that you can't own more than five. Being "uber rich" is a bad bad thing in his world.
The car is a piece of art and to those lucky few that buy one,not only will they own a beautiful creation, it will also appreciate in value. |

Good lord. For $1.3 million, I could buy you guys a Ford GT and send ten kids from some getto to four year universities. Or I could save hundreds of lives in the developing world. That's art. Buying a 1.3 Million dollar car to drive around in is douche-baggery.

No one here is buying one. We just think it looks great and it goes fast.
I wouldn't pay 1.3mil for a car either, no matter how it looks.

That was my point in posting it, nice to see at least a couple people watched it and appreciated the craftsmanship.
Speaking of GT40s did anyone see that guy who recently did 283mph in a standing mile with a stock body?
