Eric,
Where are you located as I know the Midwest ProKart Challenge will be offering an Open shifter class where G1 and KZ2 competitors are welcomed to compete. Their schedule will be release in the near future. _________________ David Cole

S1 is where I really want to be but it's a honda show. Thanks for the reply. Eric. |

Yeah for SKUSA it's practically '99-'01 CR125 or nothing, at least if you plan on banging gears. They scrapped G1 a couple of years ago. Exception to teh CR125 affliction being KZ at the supernats. But since its KZ as opposed to an open/moto you can't a moto there anyway. Midwest SKUSA runs an open class but entries have been very light.
A used "Stock" moto CR125 eligible for SKUSA will run you about $2500+. I think the kit for a new one, if you want to assemble it yourself is about $2800.
FWT have some "open" shifter offerings I believe. Rock Island Grand Prix will likely offer a class for your motor (Shifter Masters) as well as many road racing series. NCK being the one closest to you. _________________ GPI Racing | WildKart | Maxter | Hoosier

Yes, Southern California is the best location to be for Stock Moto (CR125). I'd strongly suggest making the switch to it. That's the tough part about karting, as it is so diverse that certain packages are more popular than others depending on where you live. I believe some of the clubs that race at CalSpeed have an open shifter class to help you get some seat time before you decide what direction you want to go. _________________ David Cole

You might want to look into Los Angeles Kart Club. They run at Cal Speed Karting in Fontana. They run an Open Shifter class along with two S2, S4 and a heavy stock Honda class. Open and the heavy class usually run together.
Also, F100 Karters is starting a class for shifters to include all motors. Modified motors would be weight handicapped. This club will be open to modified, stock and 80cc motors. F100 might be more suitable to you if you are a beginner.

| Off to find a hond I guess. Wow, I've got 4 complete TMs thinking that I wouldn't have a problem finding a class to run in. I guess I'll use em for practice motors. And I still have no class...... LOL I guess S1 it is If anyone has a CR they are getting rid of let me know, As far as seat time goes. I've been spending 3-4 days a week at Willow Springs. Streets and Kart track. and in between that... Adams, and Buttonwillow. I got my first kart 6 months ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I thank you guys for the replies. Eric. |

Sucks that Stock honda is forced down everyone's throats...
Stupid to have so many different classes for stock honda yet only one for KZ engines.. |

Nobody is forcing anything down anyone's throat. And there aren't "so many" different classes. I hardly think 4 classes (5 if you count s3) is unreasonable.
Not stupid if it's working. |

Well at least you have some options over on the East Coast with the NorthEast Shifter Kart Series. Luckily there's support for all forms shifter motors in the midwest too.
If you wanna race a shifter in the SKUSA protour though, its "Stock" Honda or nothin'. Apparently that's what the masses want. _________________ GPI Racing | WildKart | Maxter | Hoosier

Enzo,
I second the "sucks". It's hard enough to get entries with the economy like it is and the organizers drink the Honda Kool Aid and drive away the KZ's. They're all 125's change the rules and penalize the KZ's but put 'em together.
Why is it that cheep, cheep, cheep always gets the nod?
How in the world can a Honda be designated as a 'pro' _________________ Tom Barth
