Can anyone tell me their experience removing a Tillet and replacing it with a Rib Tech ??? Would like to know your thoughts on handling characteristic changes ( if any ) when you installed the Rib Tech ? Have you had any rib issues after you installed it ?
Thanks in advance !

| One problem with ribtecs is the side changes shape bigger and smaller so you might have to bend the seat struts to make a minor seat movement. The Tillets are pretty straight along the side from top to bottom and front to rear, the ribtecs are not. I don't wear a rib vest with ribtec seats. I couldn't find a vest stout enough to use with a Tillet seat. Regular seats almost made me give up karting. You can't go fast until your comfortable. |

Thanks Chuck,..did your kart handle any different when you installed the Rib Tech ? I have heard that they are quite a stiffer seat and may not let the chassis flex as much ???
PS did you have a T8 or T11 ? |

| I think it was a t8. When I did the switch I was in my second year of karting. I dont think I had enough seat time to notice the difference. For me its use a ribtec or dont race karts. Sorry, I know that doesnt directly answer your question. |

Hello Gary, a carbon fiber Ribtect seat is actually "less" rigid than most standard seats. The seat has no rolled lip around it like most and is one of the reasons it flexes more. You can also order custom Ribtect seats which can be made thinner for even more flex.
I have been driving a CorsaKart (made by Haase) with a Ribtect carbon seat all year with great success. I am 6' 2" and 210 pounds.
I ran the recent Supernats in Tag Masters......I won 2 of the 3 heat races and second in the third. The kart was "bouncing" off the corners quite well. I didn't finish the main event but that is another story!
Paul Bonilla also runs a Ribtect carbon seat in his Arrow chassis. He finished 2nd at the Supernationals in Tag Masters and also won the Championship.
Ribtect seats are not just for comfort and/or broken ribs.........they can...........and do win races!!
