After a season of showing up to the track only to have eng problems, I decided to pull the trigger and buy a dyno. Found a 2000 model 168/188 dynojet chassis dyno for a good price. Let the learning curve begin.

I have a big Dynojet 248 for cars/trucks. I love it. The learning curve is easy. I have owned mine for ten years. The support from Dynojet has been good (and I bought mine used too). Mechanical maintenance has been basically nothing except an occasional brake adjustment. Electronics...well that's a different story. The inductive pickup and the wide band cables act as huge antennas that direct EMF straight to the electronic stack like lightning rods. Through trial and error we have found that using a jumper cable as a ground strap between the car's engine and the frame of the dyno cures most of the issues though.

Chassis dynos are nice, but they take up a lot of room, I like my engine dyno..... Either way, you will learn a lot...

The new kart shop and new home for the dyno is coming along. Poured the floor this week. Start on electrical next week. Plan to be up and operational by Feb. The building is 26 x 50. Been my dream for years. The only problem is I've spent a lot of my race budget for next year lol. Well woth it
