Hi,
Me and my boy are new to kart racing, but we have had some experience with dirt bikes.
I'm in Phoenix, AZ and will be ordering a stock Honda parts package as a Christmas present that my son will be putting together.
What is the difference between the 99 and 01 CR125 Cylinders and which one should I order?

| You should call a local kart shop that you can trust and work with them. That way when you need to service the motor or kart you have a resource in the area |

One of the local Honda dealers is ordering the motor parts kit for us and
said they would help if we had any problems putting it together.

Check with whatever org you're going to run with and make sure they allow the 01, I know WKA does not...

My vote is '99....
-'99 is the most common
-Can use with any org
-More flexible powerband (little easier to drive)
-Powervalve plugs are easier to blend (might be cheaper to buy) _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

Hello everyone and thanks for all your help. I know the 99 power valve plugs are held in place by bolts, o rings and epoxy. Does anyone know how the 01 plugs are held in place? I've used liquid metal on exhausts and it doesn't seem to last.

Interesting. My vote is actually for '2001'...
Agreed that it is the most common (and one of the reason I initially went with a '99) but I actually think the '01 is easier to drive than the '99...it keeps cleaner as well...and I find it faster.
In any event, if you make a decision to go with '01, have absolutely no doubt that the very best engine builder for that is MRC (Musgrave Racing Company). Competent...integrity...superb...honesty...are some of the words that go along w/ them...good luck!

So, SKUSA - 2001 OK, WKA - 99 only.... Are there any other rules?
While on the subject, what are the other differences? IS WKA can't modify the slots on ignition and SKUSA an approved "plate" over it? |

| 01 has a smaller tuning window. If your not great at tuning, get a 99 |

I'm sure glad that Alex liked the 01 over the 99 and because of that I was able to purchase his 09 that was from what I think IMO, the BEST builder to date and to add and hopefully I can help prove, SECOND to NONE!
Thanks Alex |
