Does anybody know the Mitsuba part number (not the IAME or Rotax number) for the Leopard/Rotax starter?

I am looking into a brushless motor replacement for the original starter motor. That will obviously end the problem of broken brushes. The guy I am dealing with asked me for a Mitsuba part number so he would know the specs of the original starter motor.

It will be a little more complicated than a standard brushed motor, because a brushless motor will require an electronic controller as opposed to a regular switch. So there will be an extra little plastic box with the controller. Other than that it will work the same as the original starter - without the broken brush problem.

why should tech care if your starter motor is better than original?

Nobody will care until you win Wink

Last time I read the TaG USA rules they were pretty specific about what parts you could use though. I'll bet people would love aftermarket pistons and rings too Laughing

Cheers,
