Insurance is same wet or dry AFAIK, which I think says something about the safety perception. In fact I would say that the approach of NOT racing in the wet is an extra financial risk for the series. Cancellations\postponements don't make anybody happy.
Used set of alum rims work perfect. If you are REALLY stuck you can even pop the wet tires onto wider dry rims, bit of a pain but again you will get to do what you have invested your time and money into... Going racing and having fun.
The only "extra" expense is rims, you'll be buying tires anyway. New or used.
20 weeks until round one at Gateway. I think the cost excuse is just that, an excuse. Think of it as a hedge investment against climate.
Only reservation I have about putting a vote to members is that the majority of racers at the races are not members of CES. Why is another discussion and the policy on that might change for 2013. But until then I think we should bear that in mind. _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

No Peter I did not race gingerman before. But that place if rough in spot. Don't get me wron it was a great layout but not that fun when you are busting ribs. As far as eating tire like chili dogs, I would say it is the old pebble track that does that more then anything.
As far as running in the rain count me out. Besides the cost of tires, rims. wet suit, and other issues like water in the engine. Not to mention safety. |

Normally, I would agree that older tarmac would be to blame, but we never went through rubber to that extent prior to the track extension. True, the newer casting of the Dunlops that I use wear faster than in '11, but we found the same thing to be true last year as well...
Then again, honestly, the more I think about it, the more it might be the altitude change as the kart needs to rotate through the turn. So, I guess I rescind my past statement. |

Gingerman have announced in their newsletter that they will be doing a full track repave in Fall this year, but nothing more specific has been announced yet. _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

Thanks Peter. Pulling out all the stops for 2013!!!
Theres a possiblity that we will be able to offer at-track electronic "registration stations" (in addition to having real people!) so we can speed things up and ease the load on the registration staff. It's not concrete just yet, but I would really like to make it happen.
More on that as things progress. _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

Where is the "running in the rain" decision at?? Is it Davey's call or the insurance provider?? If we need to buy rain tires, now would be the time.
How about 2012 points??
Thx |

I agree Scott. I would rather invest now in the slow season. For the parts/tires I need during the race season.
Last year i didnt even know I finished 3rd in points. Missed the banquet fixing/working on my kart. Walked up after it was over. Only to find out I should have been there!
The points should be updated after each race.
I would be happy to keep track of points for the club next year if needed.
Scott you won every race, I think you finished first in points! |

I'm considering putting together a kart for CIK125. All i need is a new motor. Wouldn't mind doing some road racing again it's been a long time. SKUSA Pro Tour is too rich for my blood nowadays.
If anybody is selling any good motors out there let me know.

Have you heard of Lance or Josh Lane? I'm sure they have something laying around _________________ David Cole

Guys thanks for offering help with the points. It's appreciated.
For 2013 we will be using MyLaps' service to automatically calculate the points.
This year to run with CES you must be a member (you can get a weekend membership just like other clubs/orgs). So therefore all drivers will score points during the 2013 season. As a result the championship tables will give a better picture of the level of participation we get at the races.
Along with entries being accepted and sessions/races being built via motorsportreg.com a lot of these things will be automated leaving chance of manual entry errors. I expect you will see a lot more homogenization with the race/session descriptions and soforth in MyLaps from 2013 onwards as well as the points being updated after each race. Judging from 2012 they will probably be updated <24hrs after Sunday.
Re rain racing, Dave Larson told me "we already race in the wet". So as far as he is concerned we will continue to race as we have done awarding rain points. Gingerman '11 was an exception to the rule due to flooding with the new section of the track making it unsafe. _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

Joe there's lots of great options out there.
My (admittedly biased) vote would be for Randy Pierson\GPI racing I believe he has a couple of strong KZ's.
I think Cody Elliott might be selling his Maxters, might be worth calling Andy Chase too.
Not sure if Lanes have anything for sale, but worth a shot calling them.
Otherwise, there's the classified here too.
I think Glen Luening has a couple of Vortex's and Pavesi's _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?
