Thank you Michael for breaking the news before we can
We were aware of the announcement last week and have been working to get the official statements from the parties in North America that will represent the brands. _________________ David Cole

Walt,
Look at the link posted in the original post. It has photos of the new OK graphics.

I thought that Champion Racing had been picked as the Formula K importer for North America after Intrepid had parted ways with them as their importer...
IPKarting has "changed" the Intrepid brand name to OK1. I thought that I had heard that there was a nasty split between IPKarting and Intrepid's previous owner...

Wasn't SKM the original Intrepid manufacturer then it changed to IPKarting...?
I'm wondering if perhaps the original Intrepid owner is resurrecting the brand name and will have it manufactured by another kart manufacturer or maybe even themselves... (doubtful though with the cost to setup your own manufacturing facility). _________________ Ken Schilling

Okay. Not to be a total whatever, but this is kinda silly. Vroom published everything almost a month ago. Am I the only person in North America with a subscription?
This guy is 'Mr. SKM', Mirko Sguerzoni. He's pretty much singlehandedly responsible for SKM, Intrepid, etc and so on. Makes Praga, Italkart and a few other brands. Not to mention primary sponsorship of Bas Lammers, Beitske Visser and a buncha others too. Oh, and he shares pit space with Monsieur Savard (Mr. Tec-Sav) pretty often. I think it's safe to say that he's earned the right to do what he wants with his stuff and if he feels like spending his time on something more fun than marketing, good for him.
Seriously though. Skinny jeans? Dude!
One other tidbit...not trying to get the last word in. I don't know what happened between the Berryhills and SKM, but a really strong relationship went in the dumper crazy fast - almost as fast as Lammers was when he left 'the chin' MSC in 8th place at Vegas. Why Bas doesn't get a test in at least F3, nobody knows... |

Hello guys
Larry since you asked. I will give you a little run down. Champion Racing has been dealing with Mirko Squerzoni SKM since the mid 90's using and selling his SKM components. In 2003 Mirko Squerzoni started the Intrepid line of karts and Champion Racing became the original North American importer and distributor for Intrepid. Champion Racing helped develop the chassis along with Squerzoni for the North American market.
Champion Racing developed, promoted, distributed and won with Intrepid. To make a long story short 2 years ago Mirko Squerzoni had to take on a partner into his company. After this partnership occured Champion Racing met with Intrepid to analyze the situation. After the meeting Champion Racing did not feel comfortable with the new partners and Champion decided to give up the Intrepid importship.
After the split of Mirko Squerzoni and his new partners, Mirko contacted Champion Racing and a deal was struck to rekindle the partnership of Intepid/SKM and Champion Racing for the exclusive importship of the North American market. Intrepid and Champion Racing are very excited about the new forth coming technology to be presented in 2013 to the karting market.
Mirko Squerzoni is building the Intrepid and SKM product line in his newly opened state of the art factory and as always is on the cutting edge of technology to bring the world class product to the racer at a reasonable price.
All existing and future dealers and racers of Intrepid are welcome to contact Champion Racing with any questions.
Thank you
CHAMPION RACING

Thanks Rodney-just to help with my confusion then - is OK1 just the overseas name and it remains Intrepid here? |
