We had a client bring in a mystery (for us) kart that he found somewhere for nearly nothing. It looks like a road racing laydown kart to us. We're looking for help identifying it and hopefully getting some info on it's pedigree. The frame has never been on the track - there is NO scuffing on the bottom of the frame, not even a scratch in the powder coat.
There are no manufacturer markings, serial numbers or anything to give us a clue. The fuel tank has EMMICK etched into the aluminum but the tank is well used, unlike the rest of the kart, so we don't believe the tank necessarily belongs to the kart. We're hoping one of you experts out there can recognize the characteristics in the photos (click for larger image) and reveal the answer to the mystery.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it is a Comet Mach 1. I had one back in the day. _________________ Laukaitis Racing Engines

My first kart when I got back to driving in 1996. Except mine had dual motor mounts so you could run the engine on either side, with the brake disc in the middle of the frame. My dad has one just like what you have in the picture that we are running Clone on. He raced at Rock Island. Still need some time with engine and chassis setup...plus a better driver. _________________ David Cole

| Thanks for the quick response, guys. What model year might this be? And finally, does he have anything of value here? Maybe to someone that has a worn-out Mach-1 frame and has everything needed to bolt onto it? |

Not sure about the year. I think I ran mine around 90-94. So it is probably a early 90's. I mainly road raced mine. My brother still has it, but converted it to left hand driver for Yamaha.
It probably isn't worth too much maybe $200 or so. Maybe less. I bet some Clone drivers might be interested in it. _________________ Laukaitis Racing Engines

Jim, come on. With your Clone program, you could build this thing up from the ground and make it win at New Castle. I'll even drive it for ya! _________________ David Cole
