IKF in't recognizing Rotax Max class by their rules. NCK has been running a Rotax class this year and has been averaging 6 entries per race. Still with no hard and fast rules. I'm trying to get imput from road racers that are coming to the Nationals at Thunder Hill next year to put togeather a proposal for IKF, so we're all on the same page. Things like front brakes (we are already faster than the 80cc shifters and 125's run front brakes) also CIK body work is fine but what about a better aero fairing like CKS or Trackmagics. It is long track after all. Why not open the tire class to a manufaturer that would supply a set of tires to a series winner like Bridgestone has done with many clubs. I'm not trying to polute a good class, but no R.D's are offering a Rotax road race class. Yes the engine seal should stay to keep things even, but front brakes are alot safer to me than a back up rear system. Just my 2cents.

It's not IKF that doesn't follow the Rotax Rules, it's your local club.

Currently Rotax Max is listed as a local option or a regional option class in different areas of the country. It's up to the club to provide the rules for whatever local option classes they are running in writing ot the IKF prior to the first race of the year.

If they submit the same rules as the RM series, then those are the rules.

At least that is how I understand it.

In addition, if you are working with NCK on the Local Option Duffy Class rules for the 2003 RRGN the complete rules must be in to the RR committee chairman prior to Sept. 12 as he has to then get it to the director working on the rulebook, Then the rest of us have to review and approve or deny all changes for the rulebook at the meeting the first weekend of October in Kansas City.

When I talked to Chaz Lemmon on the phone the other day, I think he told me that the local option classes and rules will be set at the next NCK meeting.

As for the RMax rules in RR across IKFland, I think SWRA followed them for the 2002 RRGN and I believe SCK is using the R Max Challenge rules for their local option RM class... Debbie K could tell you for sure
Not sure what PKRA is doing but Tim D would know.

I do know SCK welcomes all the R Maxers at their events and try to make things extra easy for crossovers.

Hope this was helpful

(Continuation of the Road Atlanta thread)

OK, so we wont hold our breath for SSC to officially designate LTN's as the new Rotax RR Challenge..

Next question(s) then - Will SKUSA include a Rotax Max class as part of their Long Track Nationals?

How many racers out there reading this plan to attend, I mean (aprox) how many Rotax Max might we see there??

Shouldn't all this hoo-ha be in the "Who wants to screw up Rotax Max" thread?

Here's an idea - USE THE RULES THE REST OF THE WORLD DOES.

Front brakes - Optional (if you must) but NOT mandatory.

Bodywork - Per CIK / RMC. You bolt on a CTS or Magic fairing, everyone else thinks they have to. Guess what, everyone's spending MORE money, and your "advantage" goes out the window. Save your money and race!

Tires - CES had adopted the best plan, IMO. We use the (3) tires common to Rotax in order to promote crossover.

These are only my opinions, and do not reflect those of T2 RaceKarts

Now, who's going to Road Atlanta? Let's try to get a realistic head count.

Kelly Falls / Jim Emerson / Roger Dehaan (sp?)/ Bruce Woodrow, Ashley / Steve Emanuel / Richard Grey / You out there??

BK - T2R

I'm not Tim but I think you mean PSRRA.

Rotax is run as a local option up here, with Leopards. Scored together in road race, run together scored separately in sprint.

There are a ton of Rotaxes and several Leopards up here but not that many run the road races.

Hey Steve,

Shouldn't you be on your way to Gateway Int'l right now? Go Rotax! Head to head for the crown eh? Sounds like trash talk again...

Talked to Richard Gray yesterday. HE certainly qualifies for a Rotax Masters class! I think he's around 60? Anyway, he owns his own plane and might fly down to Atlanta if I haul his kart and gear. It's a deal Richard!

Same offer applies to Bruce / Ashley / Gary / Jim / Kelly / and other midwest Rotax Maxters.

Outta here til Monday - CES race at Gateway

Debra,
No, I'm not working with NCK. I did send an E-mail to them though. Thanks for the info on the NCK meeting too. I would like some things addressed.
As far as screwing up rotax class. That isn't my intent. My kart is National class ready. Having said that though some road racers don't give a da*# about the Sprint racer rules or corporate rules written for a series that doesn't exist. (road race challenge) I just want a uniform package that can be tech'd. If the rules say carbon fairing O.K. that's fine they won't say Carbon fairing manditory!

Gary - There may be a great challenge to see who finishes last! I am really, really slow! does your power valve open? I don't think I can go that fast.

Brian - I am only 55, just been around racing for all 55 years and it both keeps you young and ages you...you'll see.
