My buddy and I are building up a CR250 on a CRG Kali Chassis for fun and open track days. It will be used on sprint tracks.
What size radiator would you recommend? I run a Champion size medium on my CR125 ..not sure if that would be enough cooling for 250?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

First, my qualifications to suggest anything to you: I've raced and built several sprint and superkart shifter karts (+10) with several engine packages, but not specifically a CR250. Several people have done what you're considering and are active on this forum. Every 250cc sprint kart I've looked closely at has had a large side mounted radiator, made by one of the kart radiator manufacturers.
If cost is an issue there may be options, if you wish to experiment. You could purchase two used mid-size radiators and plumb them together. Or, you could use a VW Scirroco (SP?) radiator mounted accross the back of the kart.
Have you found a kart track that will let you play with this kart? Many will not allow these high-powered karts.
My suggestion is to build this at a level that is above a "toy" and come race with us on roadrace courses. If you want to do something other than blow tires off rims and scare yourself, roadracing is a great place for this kart.
Think about it... |
