It's history! Another great KART event hosted by MARRS. Thanks to all who worked @ this event to make it another well-run, fun KART Enduro National Championships.
Good turn-out, and it was great to see those USSK machines. Maybe next year they will come back, along with the B-Stock guys.
OK, the weather wasn't the best (There was a thin layer of ice on my scooter seat when I got ready to take a ride Sunday morning.), but we didn't have any of the "r" word, or at least nothing more than a couple of drips and not enough to slow anyone down. And IMO that was better than the 110+ we've had @ past Nationals. For everyone's info, Sunday turned out to be pretty decent; today's temp in Topeka is supposed to be 69 and 75 on Tuesday, so Friday and Saturday were certainly not the norm.
Cool temps sure seemed to make for fast time, or at least the classes I was tracking.
It was announced that the 2013 KART Enduro National Championships will again be @ HPT on Oct. 4-6, 2013. Put that on your calendar. _________________ Keep on kartin' llb.

As Linda said, GREAT weekend. Even with the cold temps Friday & Saturday, Sunday was as gorgeous as "THE MAN" is hansome!!!!
From those who put so much work into putting on an event like this past weekend, THANK YOU racers, families, friends, etc for attending!!! Without YOU, there would be no events. KART well passed the 2011 entry count due to ALL OF YOU
As for the racing, AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I watched atleast 10 of the 13 races (27 classes) over 3 days and was amazed on how all classes had tremendous battles from start to finish.
It was nice to see some FIRST time winners also!!! Congrats to Jon Linhardt & John Rawcliffe on there wins.
Now for my BRAGGING (NO negative intended to others). I must congratulate my son Brad on his spectacular performance over the weekend in the Piston Port laydown classes. Brad had struggled the previous years but worked hard to figure things out and it paid off the last 2 KART/MARRS events this year. He dominated the Saturday race to finally take a TRIAD home after missing out for the past several years. He was again fast on Sunday but had a belt shredding teeth with 4 minutes left and pitted giving up a 20 second lead. He went ahead and went back out with only time for one lap and was able to catch his sister (Lindsay) & Bernie Baldus who were battling for 2nd and came across the line side by side with her but she finished ahead of him. GREAT JOB SON!!! Must have been the mechanic!!
As for "THE MAN"!! Only thing I will say is, YES you can spin a ANIMAL out!! Not once but twice in 1 lap!!
Again, THANK YOU ALL for making the 2012 KART road race nationals a GREAT success. Hope to see everyone back in 2013.
NOW, let's hear some stories from the rest of you.

"The Man" Sets a new Guinness book Record.
#of Spins in 1 lap while driving a Briggs and Stratton Animal. - (2).
Congrats to Brad, pretty awesome.
Congrats to Chris Larson, 3 wins, Domination against very stiff competition.
Congrats to the Scavuzzo gang on a huge win Saturday.
Congrats to Randy Fulks for his comeback on Sunday.
Congrats to Dad for 2 tough wins.
Ps.
Of all the tracks I have been to, (which there are only a few I haven't) Heartland Park Topeka tests the kart and driver more than any other track in the county. For every Road Racer that thinks they have a great handling kart, you might want to test it on Heartland Park sometime. Just ask any of the almost winners that lost their chance because their karts handling went away.
Pss. Thanks for the great BBQ and banquet on Saturday night. |

Can't thank everyone involved with the KART organization enough for all of the effort that went into making this what had to be one of the top road races of the year! It would have been worth the trip just to watch the superkarts!
The racing in the TAG classes (and the others that I got to watch) was intense...highlighted by the fact that all of the finishes came down to only about a foot!
Heartland Park is an outstanding race track and I can't wait to go back next October! |

Have to say the event was about as smoothly run as one could imagine. We had a great time, and I have to say thanks to Juan Gomez for allowing us to share the garage he had the foresight to rent. We rolled in late Friday night and Juan jumped in his car, left a warm hotel room, and came down to HPT to let us into the garage. Hanging with Juan, Hans, and the Jordans made for a pleasant and relaxing time. I've read a lot over the years about the KART/MARRS family and there is some truth to it. Yes it's competitive on the track, but there is a spirit of cooperation and being helpful that is pretty impressive. The racing is pretty good too. Thanks again for putting on a great event. It's on our calendar for next year.

I found your entry blank PDF. We would like to make the trip for a shot at the Triad but it seems even with our open and stock CIK karts were only allowed 2 entries for a whole national. If you guys offer up a little stock moto I think after a bit you might find guys like us would show interest and expand your program even more. I would not expect a huge local turnout but many you are attracting already have these type karts or friends with them that might also like to run. Congrats on a great turnout, I was worried the weather might pee on your party. Way to go winners! _________________ www.Hegar4.com |

Thanks to all who participated. Thanks to those who did all the behind the scenes work. Thanks to those who worked while they raced. Thanks to those who take their vacations to plan, officiate and participate. Especially Kelly, Jim, Maysha, Ron, Roger, Dave, James... and others whose names I forgot to list.
Thanks, especially to Neil Simmons who makes it to most of the races to pit wrench for me.
Wes Oakley, it is a pleasure to have you as a friend and race pal.
Keith Wedel, thank you for all of your help.
SEE YOU NEXT SEASON |

Hegar,
1) Check your PM.
2) For someone who has about every kart man has made (Sprint and Laydown), KART let alone all of the other orgs have several places for the HEGAR family to race!!
3) As for 125 stock honda, Lane was quicker then the opens last year at HPT for the USKGP. I don't recall seeing you there EITHER!!
4) Now if HEGAR MFG would like to sponsor 2 - 125 stock honda classes (1-Sat., 1-Sun), with more then just a couple of entries, I'm sure we could fit this class in so you WILL run 4 times a weekend (not counting laydowns).
Before Coffey gets on here, you better quit making EXCUSSES!!!
As for the 2013 KART Road Race Nationals @ HPT:
1) October 4-6, 2013
2) As for classes, I see the same classes that ran this year as of now. We do have room for a FEW LOCAL OPTION classes. Have one, let me know BUT, sponsors & entries will be needed. |

This is how it was all weekend for the Leopard and Tag Classes:
First it was me and Sam and then it was Sam and Luke for the other Three. It was great close racing all weekend.
Congratulations to the Winners, it was a great weekend on and off the track, and a great way to close up a great season of racing for KART/MARRS. Thank you.
