I am getting ready to make the switch to Rotax and was looking around at exhaust mounts. Now if my theory of "you get what you pay for" holds true this Odenthal mount would be junk at $61.00 compared to the ProSpeed mount at $119.00, but in my past experience with other Odenthal products, they seem to be pretty nice. Another reason for looking at it is I am going to be getting a new kart soon too, and the Odenthal mount adjusts from 28mm frame rails up to 32mm, whereas the ProSpeed does not. I guess my question really is, has anyone ever used the Odenthal and is it any good?

The ProSpeed or the PKT are the most widly used. I like the PKT but both are good.

I use the Odenthal mount ($61.00) and its fine. I did replace the stock bolts attaching the actual exhaust to the mount for longer ones. This allowed me to fit it more loosely than the stock bolts allowed - so it doesn't bind the chassis. But the mount is flexible and allows easy chain adjustments when set-up loose. However, don't forget the blue thread locker and/or safety wire on all the bolts. Wink

So my local Rotax shop recommended that I use the ProSpeed mount. I have a blended frame that I am using for just a couple more races and it actually has 28mm frame rails at the engine. I am going to be moving to an EVRR soon, but I need to use the current kart for a few more races. Has anyone ever used the 30/92 mount on a 28mm frame? The 30/92 is the smallest that Prospeed makes. I figured maybe I could just wrap some electrical tape around the frame rails to give the mount something to clamp to. Suggestions/recommendations?

I have used a 32/92 Prospeed mount on both the 30 and 28mm frame karts with no problems Just use the appropriate bottom clamp and all works well.

Would one of my spare engine mount bottom clamps work on it?

If you are moving to an EVRR you might want to look into the OTK Rotax pipe mounts. Very nice....

Thanks Mike, but for the first 3 or 4 races with the Rotax I am going to be using my weirdo, "custom" Margay. I was hoping to get a mount that I could carry over to the new kart so I don't have to buy multiple mounts. The shop I am dealing with sells both Rotax and Tony Kart and they recommended using the ProSpeed mount.

Dan - Rich is correct re: using the 32-92 clamp on a 28 or 30mm frame. It works on all three tube diameters. The 32-90 clamp (for CRG built karts) works on 28 and 30mm (CRG spaced) frames as well. The top bar is universal, for use on all frame sizes.

We sell Arrow, Tony and Margay karts and always install our pipe mounts on them w/ Rotax engines.

Best Rmax mount I have found is the OTK style where the brackets mount to the outside of the bearing hangers.

Just wanted to throw in a pic of the Odenthal Rotax exhaust mounts mentioned in the original post. Just as a reference for anyone searching this subject in the future.
