Here's the 1st race video of the all new Sonik Shifter Engine. On board with Arie Ouimet. I had the pleasure to drive this kart and I was really impressed with this motor, especially the push start Smile

The Sonik Sport Shifter has about 40 hp. It is a powervalve equiped engine, the power and torque is low in the powerband. In the video, it was raced against built ICC's, Moto's and built Moto's. This engine has excellent drivability, we taught alot of people how to drive a shifter with that engine.

So remind me...Why again, do we need an electric start ICC motor?

Is this the Sonik/Maxter TaG-ICC? The employ of an exhaust PV was a curiousity to me since I have a TM TaG-ICC, which doesn't use one. Nice motor & track work, Arie.

That's okay. I'm still trying to figure out why "we" need a OHV (MX) shifter engine.

Why not?

* If you stall at the start line, hit the button and you are good to go.

* I've seen and experienced myself people tripping and falling down when pushing others to start, so this would avoid potential injury.

Yeah, I don't know that the electric start is a big deal. Having an engine that doesn't go from $5k to 8k because of porting and all that would be nice.

Would be nice, but then all engine builders would be out of business.

Oh Please! that's all you got? If you stall at the start line you should be driving a tag kart which will make it safer for all other shifter drivers.

Howie,

I am not sure why this "push start" rubs you the wrong way. There's plenty shifter drivers, including myself, that have stalled at least one time at the line.

I'd say it more like- People that stall on the line rub me the wrong way. Learn to start without stalling before you line up and put others in harms way. Thank you!

What I like about the ICC shifters

• They are currently being made
• Most are rev limited and have a substantially longer service life between rebuilds
• Don’t have to spend 1.2K after five hours of running
• Electric start
o Can start on stand
o Can start at grid without assistance
 Pet peeve #1 with ICC karting is someone pushing another driver off in front of you and then just standing there like an dumb ass
o Can practice without any assistance
o Don’t have to get out of kart to push it if your crashed in a race
 Pet peeve #2 going around a corner and some dumb ass is pushing his kart in the middle of the track
• Made for karting
