I need help with my setup. I have been reading different threads on setups is 60/40 front/back the way to go? Because I have been fighting a tight condition this year. The front is as wide as it goes and the rear is at 53" with a soft axle, no torsion bars, short hubs, sl4 tires with 11psi, and the weight is about 45/55 front/back. I was thinking about going to 6" rims but if my scaling might be the cause I'll save my money and move the seat.
I'll be greatfull for any help

Sorry, I miss threads once in a while. I think 57% is good for a rear weight, if that doesn't get you close as far as percents go then you have something funny going on.
I would run around 16-18 pounds for an SL4 tire, I always run more pressure in SL tires.
It sounds like you don't have enough castor to me, is your karts castor adjustable? Pills or whatever? It sounds like you need to crank more in to me though. Also try raising the back of the seat. Go like 9.5 - 10" from the top of the axle to the back lip of the seat. This will help weight transfer.
Where are you running at and what kind of chassis is this? This should get you going, give me more info though and I can probably tailer it more to your chassis.

It could be that you haven't given enough info.
There are too many variables and possibilities but I personaly would not go that wide in the front. We usually end up around 9" difference between front and back.
You don't say what class or type of racing you are doing but for sprint, 45% front is a good starting place.
Where is the push? Entry, Mid, exit? What do the tires look like? What is the hot tire pressure? Is it the same in lefts and rights? |

thanks for the help Mark, if you want to add some more here is a little more info.
It is a 99 CRG kalifornia the seat is set about 9" from the axle and the castor is on the #2 setting camber is on 0, I never thought about running that much air in the tires I always thought more air ment more grip. As far as where I'm running it was whiteland but I plan on running SIRA next year, maybe I'll see you at IRP again next year I tried like mad to catch you in yamaha heavy but you really checked out on us in that race.
Anyway thanks again for the help

Rich,
I think you want to go to 4 on the top pill that will increase the castor and help the push and 1 on the lower pill. That should make a huge difference. Also remove the rear torsion bar if it is in.
IRP was a good day for us we ran real well, I plan on a couple SIRA races next year and hopefully will see you there, lots of good competition in that club. We plan on running all over the country next year in sprints and oval racing. Let me know if any of these changes help.

Mark, you say go to "4" on a CRG camber / caster adjuster?? On CRGs I've only seen markings as follows: 'I' 'II' 'III' and no mark. That is four positions, but I've never seen a '4' (IIII? or IV??) marking, do CRG have a new system of adjuster markings???

Good call John, I was going off memory, I will have to check tommorow at the shop to say for sure. If there is no 4 then go to 3 I believe that should give max castor. I like my castor swivels MUCH better!
