Michigan Kart Club 2012 Schedule
Michigan Kart Club is excited to present their 2012 schedule. MKC is one of the few original karting road racing clubs in the country, dating back to the late 1960′s. For 2012 we will be heading once again to the twisty road course of Waterford Hills in Waterford Michigan on August 17-18th. We utilize a “hybrid type” of race schedule that get’s everyone on the track, pretty much regardless of who the racer is (Sprint or Enduro) and the type of class they run. The track is a pure driver’s course so come on out and test your skills!!!
The latest announcement we have is we will be returning to the historic Michigan International Speedway on September 29-30th in the rolling Irish Hills of Brooklyn Michigan!! MKC has been long established with MIS dating all the was back to the early 1970′s when we hosted the IKF Grand Nationals! This is our first return since the mid 1990′s when the track was included on the very successful Mid-States Enduro Series! The GREAT NEWS is that MIS is a state of the art racing facility with world class accommodations AND has been completely REPAVED/ASPHALTED/REPLACED and completely RESURFACED as well as adding new track options for MKC use!!! Now you can run the OVAL and ROAD COURSE all the NASCAR and INDY stars use every year!!
In the next month we will be developing a class format and the class fee structure. Please continue to watch www.michkartclub.com for more updates on both events and all the latest details! We will be issuing updates as soon as they become available.
We are extremely excited about 2012 and look forward to seeing you all participating and sharing our excitement in 2012!!! _________________

| Nice to see MIS back. I raced in the IKF Natls in the early 70's that you mention. Unfortunately your new date in 2012 is the same date as the last WKA Natl Points race at Roebling Rd. in Savannah. I know dates are hard to come by, but two races on the same weekend means both events will suffer and we all know there are not enough entries to go around now. |

Jim, I understand that we really tried to move our date but we have to work around MIS. Its really unfortunate too I was hoping on not being the same weekend. _________________

I mentioned in another part of the forum that I thought this was exciting news, and it still is for a guy in Indy. What I noticed later was that there other date is Memorial Day weekend. For me personally, living within 100 yards of the Speedway (Indy), it will be tough to leave town. Not personally, wouldn't this be a tough weekend to get any kart count??
To clarify, I am not bit#*ing, and I really hope the best for this club. But I tend to think it might be tough to get good kart count on either weekend. I hope I am wrong. _________________ www.indyendurokart.com |

| What track configuration will be run? I see from the MIS site that there are a lot of options. A map would be nice. |

As of right now the track will be between 2.5 miles and 3 miles. It will include half of the oval and the entire brand new layout inside of the oval. The exterior track will be repaved next year so that will not be included. We are most likely running the track clockwise so less barriers will be required. Also after doing a test drive it is soooo smooth so it will be super fast. I should have the exact layout up for everyone in the next few days that way you can see how we will be running it.
It will not be run the same way we had the event back in 1996. _________________

We have the first promotional flyer for MIS for distribution. It will be coming in the mail for MKC members this week and I will have it on me at Daytona next week if anyone would like one.
It has the track information, track layout, diagram and basic weekend information to start planning. _________________

Is that a clockwise or counterclock wise direction?

| With so many good road racing events in MI, Rob might just have to let Dave get some track time in. |

With all the good roadcourse tracks hosting races in Mi. this year I hope everyone will do their best to come out and support these races. We have wanted this to happen for a long time now we need to show support so the tracks will have us back again. Tell all your friends to bring a friend.
