|
|
I'd like to install the new sniper pills on my Biesse B3 chassis. It's an 06 with pretty standard looking C Brackets and 8 mm king pins. My plan was to borrow Russell's boring tool and only drill the 22 mm hole halfway or just far enough to seat the Sniper pill in the frame while leaving the rest of the C bracket material for structural integrity. There are some posts that say the remaining material after hogging a 22 mm hole in the older brackets is a concern. Drilling halfway is hopefully insurance against a failure.
What I need help with is the required 10 mm kingpin hole in the Sniper pills. Sounds like some are machining a sleeve for the 8 mm king pin and others are purchasing 10 mm bearings for the spindles in order to use 10 mm king pins.
Can anyone suggest a place to get the materials needed to install either of these two options? I'd prefer the bearings, but the shims may work and can always be replaced with the bearings later.
Any info would be appreciated. Thx, Todd |

I had these adapters made so I wouldn't have to drill out my 8 mm yokes. They are pretty simple. The king pin has a lot of movement - I would say very close to full range of motion for Caster and definitly full range for camber. If anyone would like to purchase a set just send me an email and I'll put you in touch with the guys that made them. They are CNC machined and I paid $35. I think they would knock some off since they now have a program. todd2302000@yahoo.com
For starters I'm probably going to use a couple of drops of RTV or some sort of epoxy to keep the adapter from indexing in the hole during adjustment. Probably just a small fillet of adhesive in a few spots where the adapter and frame mate. The clamping force of the king pin will keep everything in place during use. Since so many frames have the pill pin/screw holes in different locations I thought it would be best to leave the indexing issue up to the user.

I've had a few emails regarding these pill adapters lately. The shop I used locally is pretty small and probably not interested in sell these anymore.
However, Chris Reinhardt www.CR2MotorSports.webs.com can build these as well and as most know is a karter. I'd suggest contacting Chris.

I'm working on a CAD design that should lower the cost.
Please contact me if you are interested as I would like to have a decent sized order to start with to keep the cost down.

Here's what I have so far. I have 1 set ready to be drilled and tapped, 6 sets that have the one side machined, waiting to be surfaced on the opposing side and have the 22mm plunge cut done.
I should be able to finish up all these tomorrow, and hopefully be ready to ship Monday.
I will sell all 6 sets for an introductory price of $40 for the pair plus shipping and that will include a longer allen bolt for the kingpin.
The next run will be $50 a set....

I must have miscounted or I'm missing somebody, but I have one set left.
To the people that have ordered them, they will ship out tomorrow, UPS came late today.

How does the adapter mount to the C bracket? How do you keep it from turning.
Any of these left Chris? |
