I subscribe to several magazines "geared" to racing, including Nat'l Kart News, Shifter Kart, Autoweek, and Road Racing World. All of the magazines have great racing coverage, with the exception that all BUT the karting magazines almost always throw in a track map so the reader can follow along with the commentary in the article.
I don't know about you, but a race at Barrie, ON, or Talladega reads great but chances are that most readers will never see the track let alone race on it, so all the reader can do is wonder what the track is all about.
Now, I realize that all of the 100's of kart tracks in and around the world may or may not have published maps of their tracks, but IMO, I feel that the inclusion of any available track maps regardless of their artistic quality, included with the written racing coverage would be good for the sport and make the reading much more enjoyable.
I've written to the editors (got no feedback). If anyone feels the same way, I urge you to write to the editors: nkn@nkn.com (and) rhowden@shifterkartmag.com.
Does anyone out there have any opinions on this subject? |

Paul,
We have just recently added tracks from around the country, and soon the world, to our web site. We are in the process of adding the actual drawing or picture of the tracks. We will also soon add another feature that should help anyone not familar with certain tracks. I hope this will help everyone.
Check it out!
Thanks,
Richard Zimmermann

I had a chance to take a brief look at this track database of which Richard speaks. I was quite impressed; I encourage folks to give it a look.

National Kart News ( No affialiation with NationalKarting.com) printed up all the Tracks in the United States earlier this year I think it was in one of there magazines. They also have one on there website in Acrobat format so you can print it out real nice for track notes.

On my way to check out Richard's sight now.
I agree it would be nice to have a track map like they do for the Formula One articles and give the lap times of the competitors very cool. |

Richard,
Good job on the track listings. Maybe you could add the track websites so everyone can see pic's of the tracks along with more detailed info.

I know the track maps have been published. The Muller website used to have a link to them, and NKN publishes them anually, but I don't want to have to dig out my old magazines or log on to a web site to find them each time my magazine arrives. |

Chuck,
That is a good idea. We will be adding either photos of the tracks or diagrams, as long as they are available. We will also include a form that can be filled out by the track officals in order to add more info or add the track in general.
In addition we are looking for drivers who have extensive knowledge of how to complete a fast lap at all the tracks we have listed. We are interested in braking points, lines, accleration, bumps, etc. We would like as much detail as possible. We should have a form up shortly that can be filled out and emailed to us.
Should you or anyone else have any other ideas or comments, please let me know.
Thanks,
