| Ive been shaving my times a little every time out, getting some straining in my left wrist at times, but after today my left side ribs are super sore, needing a rib protector for sure, maybe my seat is to large as well.. |

Seriously, get a vest. The faster you go, the more pressure your ribs will have to endure. _________________ Randy

| There are many vests out there and almost as many opinions about them, are you asking which one to get? or are you asking if you need one? The answer to segond question is, yes. |

| The "best" RV is the one that works for you. Lots of choices. I have an Arox. Honestly, I bought it w/o even doing any fit comparisons & it just happened to work out great, but I just lucked out in that it happened to work out that way. Thoracic rib sensitivity is highly variable, making seat & vest fitment a personal issue. You can look at what drivers of similar build/stature are using as a starting baseline. |

| I hear you on the vest. I just finished my first full day of testing and my ribs are very sore. I have two karts and one has a seat that is a little smaller than the other. When I was driving in the smaller seat, I did not have a problem. Once I got in the other karts I got a large bruise on the left side. |

Be really careful not to sneeze, if you can avoid it. Press hard against your upper lip with the side of an index finger if you feel one coming on. Trust me, sneezing can take a crack to the next level; my cracked one broke when I did that in 1998. Dang, that hurt! |

| Could just be a bruised rib. I thought I cracked a rib because it hurt so bad and didn't go away after 4 or 5 days so I had an x-ray. It came back negative. My rib hurt for a month! Rib pain is a bitch. |

Probably a bruise which can be very painfull and take weeks to go away. From what I was told with a crack or break there is no mistaking it. I had minor rib pain with a soft vest so I went to a rigid vest and really screwed myself up. Turned out my ribs on my left side don't line up well so the rigid vest was the worst thing I could have done.

I came across one of the Zoombang karting shirts on Evil Bay. Dang!!!!!!! that thing is great under the Sparco vest. Lots of bulk and makes me feel like the stay puff marshmellow man but no pain after 2 straight days of T&T and racing. Couple big curb hops and one punt in turn one on the start.
All the extra bulk has me snugged up in the seat real nice. _________________ Arrow AX-8/ Rotax Sr. |

I've done that, spent the entire off-season last year getting them put back where they should be. I asked for OEM replacements and they just looked at me funny. |

Yeah, Hiccups are no fun either....
Thanks to all for the info, so I take it that a Ribtech 3 or the like, may or may not be the ticket, right?
Ill have to check out one of those shirts, I do like the idea of feeling like the stay puff marshmallow man! lol...
Im going to see if the kart school has any to loan out so I can see what works for me. definitely need to get this area dialed in, Im certain that nothing will affect my lap times more than the pain of my ribs right now...
I feel like complete idiot by not addressing this issue in the very beginning, I'm definitely paying for it now! |
