Moto Motor Shift Linkage

working on fabbing up (I use the term "fabbing" loosly) a shift linkage for the moto motor (CR 125) I just put in my kart, anyone have any creative solutions?

There's the obvious solution, which is throwing a bend in a tie-rod, but has anyone else come up with a better idea? Pictures of said solutions would be great!

Seems kind of silly to do anything other than just put a bend in a long shift rod. Seems to work just fine.

Uhh on the contrary, my air shifter is on and works great! Legal? No, but the way I installed it, I was able to leave the manual shifter intact and the air shifter can be disconnected in a matter of seconds making my kart legal to race! So with that said, I have the best of both worlds!
As for the manual shift arm? Definitely put the necessary bend/s in the arm and run the J-arm in the UP position! Some run it down but the shift pattern is backwards!
Don't know why everyone is negative about playing with an air or aftermarket shifter! As for failing? There's not a lot that can go wrong. Maybe a .50 O ring or a 5.00 belt. I guess you can compare that to a piston ring or a crank bearing that cost a BUNCH more! Yea running an air shifter is surely a risk!

What about a cable shifter? I did some research but ultimately bent a rod and it works just fine. I'd love a paddle shifter but as mentioned above, not lega.

DD2's use a 2 cable system on a paddle. It can also be done with a push/pull single cable. Typically a marine control cable is used. It's called a morse 33C.

The DD2 is probably the simplest aproach. The paddle shift assembly is around $200 and it mounts on the steering shaft under the wheel. You'd just have to fab cable mounts on the engine side.

Can you tell I've been thinking about this?
