Randy I don't know how old you are , but lets say I'm not 21 either. Sprint racing, which I've only gotten into the last couple years, is definitely more physically demanding, but quite the rush!
Enzo, same **** applies to KZs as stockers. If ya wanna win KZ you gotta have a Tech Sav engine , maybe buy 5 different pipes, dyno them all and see which is best. Throw a few carbs in for good measure. When it comes to racing $ ( and brains) is the only limiting factor to how much performance you can squeeze from your equipment. whether its the latest carb setup or a new chassis for every event. Racers take it as far as they can afford. |
I couldn't agree more, this is the norm in all MotorSports. |

I don't agree with icc engines. I think it's stupid. I think all purpose built kart motors should be destroyed. |

Byron, I've got my ass kicked more than once road racing. I'm not a road racer, when I get to run with the big boys, I have my hands full and them some.
I try and do it once or twice a year, fun as hell. |

Sorry, this is pure bollox.
You don't have to have a Tec-Sav at all to win in KZ. That's the perception, albeit outdated but its just a perception. Lots of reputable motor builders about, many of them this side of the Atlantic too and Riley Will can give you some data on how they stack up on the track. I've been around karting a while now and its the same crap over and over. People assume that the equipment up the front is absolutely, unequivocally what you must have to win. Monkey see, monkey do. When I think back to my FA days you "had" to have a Koene or Marachal Vortex. Before that it was JAG rotax. The reality was that many were capable of winning but the best complete package (drivers Fore and Button comes to mind) happened to have that motor on there.
What I always found interesting was for each homologation claims would be made that the new motor (or chassis) is x amount faster than last, but yet if you took lap records over a three homologation span (nine years), there was minimal change, despite the fact that if you totted up the claims over the years you would think it should run 3 seconds faster.
My point? The difference across motors in ICC\KZ isnt as big as people make it out to be. The difference is butthurt and bellyaching. Under the CIK regime you don't "have" to update every three years at all. I've seen this demonstrated time and time again not just with the 125 shifters, but with the 100cc motors too. Quick motors stay quick.
KZ pipes are homolagated with the motor, dyno all you like and waste your money if you wish. The gains to be found are negligible. Silencers you can swap sure, but that's more of a track change and again its cnuthairs.
Good news it that the KZ pipe is probably going to last 4-5 years or more and will stay quick during that time.
Unlike other examples which seem to crack and at the top level get replaced almost every weekend like tires.
Tyson, you'll be glad to know ICC motors were discontinued in 2004. :d[/quote] _________________ GPI Racing | WildKart | Maxter | Hoosier

Yes Jeff I can buy a factory prepped motor at the same price as the big teams "BUT" its the carb tuning and set up that will make the difference that and dyno time.
TM, Maxter, Vortex upped there game this year because of TECSAV 's motors the last 3 years. Plus most of TECSAV stuff is not the latest design it's matched parts for the best performance. They do some outstanding things with the motors and are not out buy any means. As KZ is becoming MORE and MORE popular here everyone is putting more into there KZ motor programs and they'll get better and faster !!
Last year a well prepared K9B was every bit the motor KZ10 in the hands of the right driver!!
Last year I was running lap times 1 second slower as guys with KZ10 with my K9B and I am 40 lb heavier on a technical track my motor had some dyno time though
