Chassis for Yamaha lite?

I only weigh 120lb, and I am 5 foot 9. I am looking for what you guys might think is the "best" chassis for this situation. I was looking at the Merlin LM30 since I like the guys at Franklin motorsport and in my area (midwest, il) it has had plenty of success. Let me know what you think though, my idea was that a 30mm chassis would be best, but any other ideas?

The Merlin chassis you mentioned would be a good choice. Very popular in the midwest so you should have plenty of assistance getting that kart to work. They also offer a slightly smaller chassis which is a cross between 28/30mm tubing throughout. I may be incorrect (you merlin guys please correct me if I am wrong). I believe you could be successful with either chassis selection.

We have never owned, or driven, a Merlin but they are very good karts. If you have the local support for that brand then I would say you can't go wrong. I can't say whether or not the LM30 would be best suited for you though. TJ Koyen would definitely be able to help answer that.

The LM30 worked great for us for many years in Yamaha, Komet, and TaG. The newer Merlins since they moved on from the old MR series chassis are very nice chassis. Franklin is a quality operation and offer great support. David, you and I are about the same weight though you've got a couple inches in height on me. Kyle Kalish is about your exact dimensions and he's been very quick on the karts over the past few years.

But of course, you can't go wrong with an OTK product either. The Exprit has been very good to us so far and we like the product a lot. I believe you had a Tony before? But I recall you pitting and working with Jamie a few times so I guess you've got experience with both, choose whichever you can get better support for.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will most likely be renting a kart for the season versus purchasing a used one so it will come down to the best rental situation. It seems like both kart star motorsports and franklin should do me well. And yes TJ I did used to have a tony, unfortunately for the majority of the time i had it the seat was in the completely wrong spot since I trusted someones judgement and never thought to check it. I only had it well set up when I went to franklin for one season, and that happened to be my most successful and last season since now. Given that Blake who runs Kart star motorsport used to be with Franklin not too long ago I see this as a win-win situation given the experience I've had with franklin.
