Yes.
We plan on being at that one too.
It looks like it will be a great event.
Unfortunately the scheduling gods once again put everything on top of one another.
Our hope for the events with Speed Ventures is to stimulate interest in Road Race karting in Southern California so there can eventually be stand alone karting events. Sharing the track time (and costs) with car groups, is just about the only way to get on the big tracks for us. Tri-C is taking a pretty big risk putting on their event, I hope it goes great. _________________ Benn Herr

| I am really looking forward to going to Fontana. Finially some where close! The layout looks like a nice change from when I last ran there in '05. Anyone know how the transition is off the back straight to the infield? |

The transitions were good when we ran the whole track way back when. I'd imagine this layout will be very nice. Anyone know what the entry numbers are looking like? _________________ www.Hegar4.com |

New Information
At this point we have only received 12 "interest only" sign-ups for the Chuckwalla event on March 23rd and 24th (We were expecting more). The Auto Club Speedway event has more interest.
The Speed Ventures people still want us to run with them. To that end we've come up with a shortened schedule that will run on Sunday the 24th only, Track time will consist of four 15 minute sessions. The first three will be timed and the last one will be a race lined up by practice time. Cost is reduced to $140.
The important part of this equation is that we need at least 18 people to put their name on the Interest Only registration. Right now we are 6 people short. Having everything happen in one day should make things easier if you're just thinking of give it a try.
Just click on this link and run through the steps:

Again, if you have any questions, send me an email. We'll find the answer! _________________ Benn Herr

So...according to the ProAutoSports registration site, we have until March 19th to get 18 karts to register as "interested"?
That doesn't leave much time to make arrangements to travel. get lodging, and prep for racing on the 24th at a track none of us had done a lap on before.
Am I missing something?
Don't mean to be cranky...just want to make certain we all understand the importance to register early. _________________ Bill Cox

Bill,
You? Cranky? Hard to imagine.
It is true that when talking about the Chuckwalla event, the timing is less than ideal. Road Racers seem to do a lot more planning for their yearly racing schedule/budget/plans, and the month of March is VERY full of events for Road Racing in the West. But the opportunity to run on this new super smooth track was just to much to pass up.
Getting enough people for both days was just not happening. We're up to 12 so far so all we need is another 6 (duh, math!). So we worked out a deal for a reduced price on a one day deal. It should make fitting this race into a busy schedule a little easier. It'll also let the Speed Ventures get used to how karts operate.
The next event with them will be Auto Club Speedway. There seems to be a lot of interest in that one. Maybe having a little more time to fit this into peoples schedule will give more racers a chance to see what big track running is like.
In the meantime sign up for Chuckwalla, it'll be a blast I'm sure! _________________ Benn Herr

There is just not enough racers in So.Cal. that will travel to split running back to back weekends.
I got the firm commitment for the Willow event back in December to run this weekend that's the earliest I ever got out of HSR so people could plan on it and with the new ownership that was part of the reason I got it early plus there was another car group that asked for the track time and didn't get it.
I would have had no problem running if there was more time to prepare so until karting gets out of the habit of running on top of each other we are going to end up with nothing to race in the future. New events are great to have but as we have seen in the past if it's not done right you usually do not get a second chance. _________________ John Kuntze

With a great deal of disappointment that I have to announce that we will not be running at Chuckwalla this weekend. There was insufficient interest/sign-up for them to reserve a slot in the schedule. If you have registered for the event you’ll get an email about the change.
As John indicated in his reply, it’s just too much having events back to back. The short notice for the event, along with an already full schedule are the primary culprits. We hope to run at Chuckwalla in the future with Speed Ventures, we’ll just have to see how things work out.
We are still on for the event at Auto Club Speedway on May 4th and 5th. The only conflict with this date is ProKart running outside the Speedway. Maybe we can get a few to wander inside and take a look. If you are interested in running on the full road course that weekend, I urge you to pre-register as soon as you can.

Again, sorry for the cancellation of the Chuckwalla event, I hope nobody was seriously inconvenienced. _________________ Benn Herr

Thanks for the update, Benn.
Disappointing...but looking forward to another opportunity to run at Chuckwalla.
Will karts be running Fontana on Saturday and Sunday, May 4th and 5th; or just Sunday, only?
Maybe some of the PKC crowd will hang around for Sunday; get a taste of road racing on a very fast track. The banked oval is amazing in a shifter kart at +100mph sustained! Quite the pucker-factor! _________________ Bill Cox

Thanks for the efforts Ben!
Hope to come down and support some events. At the moment, winter events fit the best because of the break in races up here. I used to attend SCK roadraces in the winter months...
