California, here we come!
ProAutoSports announces two additional events in California for 2013
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are excited to announce that we have partnered with Speed Ventures, a Track Event Company out of Los Angeles, to offer two California events to our Members. This is an opportunity for ProAutoSports to go run on some of the nicest tracks in the Golden State: Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.
Speed Ventures will be hosting the event, and we will be blending in with their groups. They have been running track events since 2001 and we feel they are the perfect group to partner with to give us a chance to run on tracks outside of Arizona. They have a very similar event structure to ours and they are looking forward to putting on not only High Performance Drivers Education, but wheel to wheel racing as well.
How to Register
Race Cars: We are hoping to get enough race cars (Open Wheel, Closed Wheel & Karts) so that each group gets their own run group and race. In order to do so, we need to have a minimum car count pre-registered. We have opened up an "interest only" registration on our registration page. You will not have to pay at this time, but we do need to get an idea of who is interested before February 21st. If you want to go, make sure you register and make sure you tell your fellow racers to do the same. The cost will be $180 per day for Chuckwalla, and $190 per day for Auto Club.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What this means:
We have a chance to race at two of the nicest Road Race quality tracks in Southern California. One is the newest and smoothest, the other is so close you might even be able to see it from your house! To make this happen we need numbers. About 30 karters per day is the goal, but more is better. That's why they have put up the "Interest Only" registration on Motorsportreg.com.
Just click on this link and run through the steps:
http://proautosports.motorsportreg.com/
Remember, you don't have to pay at this time, we're just looking to see how many people are seriously interested.
Our normal format here in Phoenix is to run 4 twenty minute sessions – the first three are timed and your fastest time sets the line up for the race. The race distance is set by what will fit into the final twenty minute session.
We run five types of karts, all in one session.
SUPERKART
250 cc twins and singles, 450 cc four strokes and other “exotic” karts.
SHIFTER
125 cc adult modified gearbox karts.
SPEC 180
This class is intended for “Stock Moto” gearbox engines and average weight
drivers.
TAG
All adult electric start, one speed karts.
Other adult karts may be included depending on performance.
CHALLENGE
Slower performance karts.
At least that’s the way we run it here. Things may be different when we run with Speed Ventures so a certain amount of flexibility is a good thing to have. Email with your questions, and I will try to find out what is what.

Could this be the return of Road Racing to Southern California?
I don’t know, but we have to try…

| Very good Benn, What are the dates? Also is Fontana the full course including banking like was used by SCK? Or is it just the infield road course? It appears that both are 2 day events correct? |

At Fontana, they will be using the "Roval" track layout. Very interesting... go here for the track map.
http://www.speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=421
The SCK events entered the infield section between turns 1 and 2. This layout enters the infield halfway down the back straight.
Hope enough karters show interest early, so the promoters will get us on the schedule. _________________ Bill Cox

It's a shame Chuckwalla is the week after Big Willow it makes it difficult to run both events. _________________ John Kuntze

Wells done, Ben!
Karts run on their own and not with cars, right? |

Bummer... Fontana is on the same weekend as ORP. Can't do both. _________________ Play now, work later! |

This may be true, but I like ORP, and the chance to race against some of the top Stock Honda pilots in the PNW. As much as I'd like to check out Fontana, it'll have to wait until it's not scheduled on top of another event I want to run at a premier road course.
Besides, I LIKE racing in the rain. _________________ Play now, work later! |
