Glen,
What you have is a mid to late 90's Tony Kart. It's either an Extreme, Esprit, ot Green Star, however I can't really tell from all the modifications.
Most obviously it's been repainted, and fitted with aftermarket nerf bars, possibly to mount the old "Gearbox" style bodywork. As well as an extended porch kit. The front brakes have been removed, and the original mastercylinder replaced, likely with an MCP system.
From the looks of things it may have beemn set up for dirt racing. If your intention is to sprint race this, you have a long road ahead of you. You will need at the least a new fuel tank, new nerf bars, bodywork, wheels and tires, etc. _________________ 2Wild Karting

Cool. Thank you for the info. I could not get an answer from anyone about it. You sure are right about it needing A LOT of help. I only plan on running around my neighborhood with it for now (until the cops are called by someone) . After that I'm not sure what my plans are for it. I hear that they are raced at some major NASCAR tracks. I want to find a road course track that's kinda close to my house and rip around on it. Since I posted my first message a few days ago I've already spent over $1000 on parts and other stuff for it. I'm 39 years old and I've never even heard of a shifter kart until I saw this one at my buddy's house. but after one ride I was HOOKED! Way fun and way fast. The parts sure are expensive!!! is there any place that sells brakes for it at a reasonable price? I might have to replace the front spindles but I'm not sure what to get. I'm not sure about what angle the front spindles are or how to measure it.
Thank you for the information Ryon. Much appreciated. Take care |

Might I suggest strongly against this.

This is even more reason to heed my suggestion.

Ya. I'm just kidding really. I only plan to go up my street and back just to try it out when I get it back together. I don't need the police to F with me AT ALL. Besides, I have 3 homes on my street and my in-laws live on my street as well . After driving it once I realized it's no toy.
Thank you and have a good night |

Its not the cops you need to be worried about. It's kerbs, ditches, lamp posts, dogs, animals and suchlike.
Anyway, your kart looks like early to mid 90's to me, before the Esprit which was mid 90's. I was going to say its a racer, but Ryon probably knows in more detail. It's not worth putting money into right now, maybe in 10 years when its considered more like a historic kart. If you have time to kill by all means play with it, learn about it but stay safe! _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

Glen,
I hope you got that thing for free, and even then once you're done actually making it safe to drive fast, you'll have a kart that cost more and is slower than a decent, far newer one you could have picked up for under $4000. What's more, it will NEVER be race legal as it is too out-of-date in every respect.
Hopefully, some of the parts you bought can be used on a more realistic starting chassis. But seriously dude, walk away from that kart as it is not realistically fixable. It'll like buying a really beat up 1995 Civic thinking you can fix it, pouring $20 grand into repairs, and at the end you've got a 1995 Civic. Whippee. You could have got something 10 years newer for less. |
