Hi all. Just gauging interest to see who might be interested in running their vintage karts at Blackhawk next year. I think it would be most likely be part of an existing race weekend but with the vintage machines being the stars of the show.

What in your opinion is essential for a successful vintage event?

IME, the key to a successful vintage event, besides a long enough track and nonredundant scheduling with the VKA, and given today's gas prices and travel expenses; is:

enough seat time to justify the trip.

That usually means plenty of practice periods. and an extra FULL practice day on Thursday.

It's a long trip from the east coast, where the vintage enduro rules were written.

C-Open with a 125 shifter I dont think would be a good mix, nothing to do with embarrassment more to do with the C-open being so much faster on a straight only to have to come to a comparative crawl for the turns. Drivers can still be embarrassed if they wish by looking at MyLaps Smile. 250's/Unlimited would be a better match for the C-Opens I think. In any case that would be a decision made by the race director along with the participants.

CES only run Saturdays and Sundays currently per member wishes to keep costs down. Full practice day on Thurs and Friday would be super, super expensive. So at least for this year, I guess we are looking at local/regional interest.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I am not so sure the 125 guys being embarrased. I would think the 125's would be faster. Sure the twin c open would be fast on the straights. Still need corner speed.

Would be cool to see all the vintage stuff there.

I agree, I'd love to see some of them come and play. Do you know many vintage guys up your way Johnny?
I think anyone that's been around karting for a while knows the older stuff is pretty damn quick.

Times for a 100cc "stock appearing" vintage laydown at Shenandoah(short course SPR) last year, were good enough for third place in the leopard class.

Jim,
Not sure where this is going... or meaning to go.

Are you thinking a Vintage-only event on the road course? or as part of or in cooperation with CES like WKA has local options?

Hi Todd, it would be a Local option of sorts.
