Did you check the current DD2 parts fiche and compare it against what your RM1-DD2 looks like? Did you email or call Rotax? History has shown that there isn't a lot of RM1 knowledge here, and most of what we can tell you is going to be speculation, and educated guessing.
With the cross compatability that Rotax has kept on the FR125 engine over the years, I would assume that the DD2 you have will bolt into a new DD2 chassis with little issue. Mounting the battery box, mounting the radiator, and running the coolant lines might require some creative engineering, but none of it should be overly difficult.
I highly doubt that rotax changed the engine molds or case mounting points on the DD2 over the years. Molds are expensive, and are only modified if there is a really good reason.

The amount of knowledge about RM-1's on this forum is really relative to whom you ask... SpeedQuest has owned 5 or 6 RM-1's (lost count at 4) since 2003 and we used to offer them as arrive and drive karts for sprint racing. Then as interests changed, we offered them for 'road-racing' use at most of the big tracks here in the U.S. You're assumptions about the RM-1 motor and its compatibility with the DD-2 motor are definitely speculation.
The crankcases between an RM-1 and a DD-2 ARE different (drastically in some areas). The RM-1 motor COULD be mounted to a DD-2 frame but it would require quite a bit of monkeying around and some machining as well (which if you are running Rotax rules is 'illegal'). When Rotax redesigned the DD-2 motor for use on Homologated chassis, they made several changes. Some of them were cosmetic, some were reliability-related and some we are still wondering about...
The battery box from an RM-1 is really unnecessary if you're not putting it on an RM-1. The radiator and hoses are still the same across the two platforms until the new Radiator was introduced last year.
The reality is if you are looking to go fast in the DD-2 class and be legal for Rotax racing, an RM-1 motor is not the place to start anymore. The RM-1 has turned into a bit of a step-child with recent changes (past 2 years) to the DD-2 engine package, but can still be a fun kart to drive (as long as there aren't any DD-2's to try and keep up with! _________________ Nick Weil

My appologies, The lack of response with his previous RM-1 questions led me to the conclusion that nobody knew much about them. Glad someone here could lead him in the right direction.
