Hey!
I had a few problems with the clutch in the last practice with my WF.
First, i've changed the springs before the practice, then when i go to practice the karts feels okay in the first 30 minutes, but then i had troubles, i feel like the engine tops RPM before, and when i stop, the clutch seems like its lock up or engaged.
Now, the engine doesn't start by the electric start.
Its PREMIER TITAN Clutch.
What's happen and what i can do?
Thanks.
PD: Sorry for my english. |

Might not be the clutch. See the other thread here, are you having trouble turning it over with the recoil? Pull the clutch and see what you find. Also drain the oil and look for silver flakes. _________________ John Matthews

A spring broke in the clutch. This allows the remaining two springs to pull the shoes into the drum locking up the clutch. Pretty common with the Titan clutch. Virtually impossible for the novice or non mechanic type to repair at the track as you have to devise some tools to reassemble the cartridge. It's best to carry a spare cartridge (shoes, springs, spider hub assembly). Even getting the drum off with the shoes pulled tight can be a chore. After you're familiar with the process it's not that difficult but if you are not experienced hands on with this you should seek assistance / training that you can observe in person. _________________ I breathe ,therefore,I race |

No,it can be repaired,rather inexpensively,but experience and ability is required. _________________ I breathe ,therefore,I race |

Rick, I agree that the orange clutch springs work the best. When we did the karts for the movie, we tried many variations of spring rates due to the crazy application and use of the karts. In short, the orange ones worked best by far. Regarding replacing them, once again, we ran 14 of these karts on set and got pretty good at changing springs in short order. Early on we tried to purchase a tool to replace the springs and came up empty handed. We then manufactured a tool that works perfect. Easy to dis-assemble and reassemble, 5 minutes max. We have it in the shop and will have it at all of the races, you are more than welcome to use it. We have also found that when you reassemble the clutch, it is imperative that you loctite the screws into the barrel nuts that secure the two clutch half plates. If not, they WILL back out. Use just enough loctite to secure the screws so it does not drip onto the sleeve in the center of the clutch..
Feel free to reach out to us if we can help. George V.

Also you can buy just the shoe assembly if you want with whatever springs you think will work best. _________________ John Matthews
