I started running Daytona after the bus stop on the back straight was eliminated, how about bringing that back ? Would make things a lot less boring !!!

It was taken out for safety reasons, i.e., lots of crashes. if Daytona is boring, maybe you need a faster kart?
Personally, I'm at the opposite end-if the bus stop was back in, I'd probably not go. It would be the same speed as a lot of other tracks, nothing special.

One more vote for the bus stop! Go figure! May even get Brien in a sharp Superkart. _________________ Bobby Butler......."GO BOY GO" RACING, HOUMA, LOUISIANA

NO to the bus stop. I almost got killed there.
When there was an accident back then, that's where it likely happened. |

Watched Rolex race over the weekend so it reminded me of this thread.
How about first race day we race the traditional circuit and the 2nd race day run it in reverse (clockwise)?
It would give a variety and make it interesting because the run to the start/finish line would not be such a long draft race but more who can come off the infield best.
I also think if you run it reverse that the longer horseshoe turn not be used it at all but just a veer right to come into the pits after exit of turn with hand up would be safer than what we are doing now.
Think about it!

My goodness, wasn't the bus stop exciting, to say the least, during the Rolex Race. A few students would have suffered immensely.
By the way, I did see a international m/c race run clockwise at Daytona back in the 60's. _________________ Bobby Butler......."GO BOY GO" RACING, HOUMA, LOUISIANA

Although I am one that would enjoy the use of the bus stop, I'd have to agree with Brian in that the speed realized on some karts is what makes Daytona what it is. Very high speeds for lower drag karts and superior draft racing for the others. I would prefer using the normal (previous) inner road course layout tho.
Curbs could launch a kart....Pfffff, sounds pretty trivial when you consider that the walls surrounding the place can kill a kart (not to mention its soft contents) at even 60 mph. |
