I know the gear ratios and tracks go hand in hand.
However what would be a neutral "play / learning to drive" axle gear and motor sprocket combination?

I am being given choices for the motor between 14-18 for a stock honda.
I have not yet purchased the axle gear.

I know from my RC days that the smaller the motor sproket the more acceleration but less top end. I am looking for something that would be on the mild side.

I appreciate your input.

Really depends on where you're going to drive it..... Sprint tracks, anywhere from a 14 to about a 16, and about a 23 to a 27 on the back. Eventually, you're going to buy them all......

This will come in handy in the future for gearing, save a copy and keep it handy.

Make sure not to buy any of the half tooth gears.

16.5, 17.5, etc

Why not give them a call? Both places seem to have shops attached and I'm sure they will be happy to help....
