The City of Jacksonville ILLINOIS has voted to have a Street race on Sunday May 19th 2013. The Mid-State Kart Club and the Mid-America Track Challenge are working together to make this a Club race and a Series race. We have sponsors to provide CASH payouts with trophies. What class should we have a PRO race for? If we have Shifters what class is the most popular?

The class that has the most entries should get the money!

Since this is posted, I would like to stimulate some street racing discussion.

What would it take for you to enter a street race? If you have never tried a street race or have and didn't come back, what is it that keeps you away? How far would you travel for a one off event like this? Also, what is something unique that you would like to see done? Idea

The classes have not been finalized yet other than the MATC Series classes will be racing for sure.

Will this be a 1 day event with no Saturday practice? Will there be dicounted early entry so the event gets an idea on how many to expect? Anything entertainment wise going to be there

Russ,
Who come up with these classes? This is a receipt for disaster.
Close Senior - Street Races have no place for Juniors & Sportsman, especially racers just getting started.
Yamaha Can Senior - been a back bone for street racing for years.
Leopard Only - 16 & UP
Leopard Masters - 30 & up
If the Yamaha Pipe thing is big at Daytona, consider this class.
Possibly a Can Lite & Heavy or a Clone Lite & Heavy.
Look at the class structure that both associations run in Indiana.
As a club member, I would not reccomend the club investing any money & this should not be a points race. You have worked hard building the club up Russ, listen to a few of the OT guys.
Merry Chrismas,
Mark

Andrew
You know, I think street racing would not be so bad if the speeds were kept slower. This could be accomplished in to ways.
1st no 2 or 3 blocks long strights if possiable.
2. make a switch back (180deg turn)on the widest street if not every straight. Gives spectators more to look at.

Granted people watching want extremely fast racing zooming by, but action/ spinouts in the 180,s may make up for this. Very Happy [/quote]

Please dont do Leopard only with Tag Masters class. Look at Rock Island, 18 Tag Masters total. On Leopards Soniks Motori Rok TT and Rotax. Most Tag Masters can give a crap of the engine of the month club. They just want to race. With most guys weights all over the place. They need an engine that works for them. Guys WONT buy a Leopard just for this race.
Too many guys left out to dry if you go with Leopard only!

I agree with Tim, keeps the speeds down put some 180 hairpins in there but try and keep driver visibilty up around these corner. I am running the MATC Series next year in TaG Sr. and would love to participate in a street race.

The Jacksonville Street race is scheduled to be the first MATC points race. We should be racing each other then, I race TAG in the MATC too.
