I'm looking to get a custom suit. Weather it be fully tailored or an altered one is fine. I'm looking for suggestions of places/shops that offer this.
Thanks! _________________ CKR/KZ

Can any of these karting suits double as SFI (3.2A/5) certified suits for open wheel racing?
Edit: looks like K1 suits are... I'll definitely check them out _________________ CKR/KZ

+1 on K1 Race gear, we talked to them 1st, then sent a design to them, they sent back a proof and we liked their design, based on our design, ordered the suit, it came in good time and fit great _________________ jlgracing

Another vote for ONE Racegear. They've done my past few and the fit is perfect every time. _________________ T.J. Koyen

Awesome! Does anyone have some kind of suit template I can use to start on my own design? I'm looking on oneracegear for one but getting a 404 error message when I go to download them. _________________ CKR/KZ

Axcel Sports, they are on facebook. Brian Burley is good to work with and has some great suits to look at on their page. They are actually offering some partial sponsorships on their gear, check them out! _________________ CC MOTORSPORTS

Paul,
To answer this question, the answer is 'no'.
Karting suits and fireproof race car suits are entirely different products, designed to provide completely different protection. A karting suit is designed to protect against abrasion, while a race car suit's job is to protect against fire. If you were to wear a Nomex suit while karting, and flipped or came out of the kart, the damage to the suit and the driver's body would be substantial. The suit would tear and/or melt, and injury would be a given. _________________ Rob Howden

Thanks for all the responses guys!
Rob, thanks, I just thought someone might make a hybrid. Thinking along the lines of a karting design and stitched suit made of fireproof and abrasion resistant material. No biggie though.
OneRaceGear is looking like the winner. I've penned up 3 or 4 designs so far using their template but haven't nailed a winner yet. When I have a finished product I'll try to remember to post a picture up in the thread

I was in the same boat, I had a design I though I really liked, yet something was wrong and missing.... I soon contacted TJ Koyen, and he helped pull it all together!
My suit should be here in the next couple weeks! |
