The gearing will depend on the track, the weight of kart and driver and a little on driving style. I don't know what your top RPM should be but if your high you might be geared wrong for your specific parameters. Plug reading will tell you a lot just be sure to run at least 7 or so laps then shut down without much idling and check it.

If you are turning 9800 something is not adding up. If you are way rich you should not be able to get that kind of rpm in a Micro Max. The RPM is possible but should only happen if the motor is tuned right.
I will again suggest you verify the readings on the gauge somehow. _________________ Marshall Martin

Good thoughts.
You could put the prob in boiling water, Depending on you elevation, the reading should show you if the gauge is close. _________________ If the data does not support the theory, get a new theory. (Al Nunley)
