hello all...i'm new to this board and would like to post a question. when setting the toe, should i attempt to adjust for chassis flex by setting the toe "out" by a degree or two? i have always used an exact-toe with the kart on the stand. my kart is a 2001 MBA, 30mm chassis (for 4 cycle) and i weigh about 190 lb.
thanks in advance. |

Paul,
Yes you should adjust for it. I believe John Learmouth(sp) posted the amount that it normally changes when you sit in the kart on the Kart Pulls Thread..... http://www.ekartingnews.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=9&t=000013
Which MBA model are you running by the way?

This is my second year karting. I have been blessed thus far with the help of very knowledgeable and well equipped friends for help with front-end geometry settings. I would like, though, to be able to make these measurements with some of my own tools. The tools that have been used on my kart thus far are very expensive laser gauges that I would not be able to afford. So, I am looking for suggestions for reasonably priced tools for setting the front-end geometry.
Has anyone ever tried the "Zero Toe Bar Alignment System" that is sold by J. L. Racing Products? If so, what are your experiences with the tool? Does it work well?
What tools do you use to measure the front-end geometry?
Thanks for the info.

I have used the ZTB and it does work. You wouldn't believe the difference between setting front end geometry on the stand compared to setting it actively(on the ground with the driver in the kart. 1/8" to 3/16" difference in toe alone.
John Learmouth knows what he is talking about when it comes to kart front end geometry. He explains this subject very well. |
